While it will be hard to tear yourself away from the idyllic, powder white sandy beach, there is an abundance of land and sea activities to try. Located on the beach is the fully equipped water sports centre where you can give kayaking, paddle boarding and windsurfing a go, under the supervision of the Water Sports Team. Motorised water sports are also available at an extra charge. The resort’s five-star Diving Centre and trained divers provide you with equipment and guidance to the underwater world of turtles, spotted eagle rays, napoleon, sharks and schools of colourful tropical fish. Training for a PADI licence can also be obtained here.

Aside from water sports, the hotel boasts an air-conditioned Gym & Sport Centre containing Technogym equipment and professional assistance for personalised training programs. In addition, the centre features a tennis and padel court, positioned right on the marina jetty. Hidden away in the middle of the island, making the most of the tropical vegetation, is the Emerald Spa. Step into one of the eight treatment huts for a Balinese massage or a skin-brightening Elemis facial, then retreat to the relaxation area for yoga, a steam bath or to sink into the squishy daybeds for a snooze.

Little ones are welcomed at the Dolphin Kids’ Club, available for ages 3 to 12 years. A range of daily activities are provided including coconut painting, bracelet making, PlayStation challenges, scavenger hunts, pyjama parties and more. Plus, there’s an outdoor playground that’s decked out with a mini pool, splash park, trampoline, climbing frames and brightly coloured rides. Older kids will love snorkelling and pedalos, as well as family-friendly excursions like a water tour in a traditional wooden dhoni. Babysitters are available at an extra charge.

Dining information

The hotel’s restaurants and bars are unmistakeably refined, making each visit a treat. Aqua is the hotel’s main restaurant, located on the beach and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is plentiful, consisting of buffet choices as well as cooking stations for made-to-order dishes. In the evening, global cuisines are served, including Mediterranean, Japanese, Italian, Chinese and vegetarian options. For lunch, keep your toes in the sand at the Beach Club Grill, which serves pizza, pasta and a wide selection of fresh fish, seafood, meat and vegetables – all cooked on a stone grill to enhance the aroma of each dish. It’s located directly on the beach facing a mesmerising Maldivian lagoon, and is very popular, requiring a reservation.

There are three options for dinner including Le Asiatique Restaurant & Teppanyaki Grill, providing a menu of tasty dishes, all faithful to Asian culinary traditions and recipes, as well as a Teppanyaki grill for live cooking shows. The Carnivorous Restaurant, as the name suggests, is a Brazilian style steakhouse serving premium meats. It delivers a concept of a churrascaria, where meat is cooked in churrasco style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese word for barbecue. This South American style restaurant is located directly on the beach, providing incredible views of the Indian Ocean. The Mediterraneo Restaurant is the hotel’s only overwater restaurant. Its setting is incredibly attractive and perfect for a romantic meal, serving gastronomic, Mediterranean dishes.

Head over to the Sunset Pool and Bar for snacks and refreshments, available throughout the day. Chill out tunes and cocktails are best enjoyed here. Or make your way along the jetty to the Eclipse Bar, it’s at the furthest tip of the Mediterraneo Restaurant and is the ideal place to feel the magic of the Maldivian sunsets over the crystal-clear turquoise lagoon.
