Overview

The elegant Constance Ephelia hotel sprawls along two of Mahé island’s most beautiful beaches, peering over the Port Launay Marine National Park. The family-friendly property boasts direct access to two spectacular white sand beaches with water sports centres, and it’s home to one of the largest spas in the Indian Ocean. You can join the hotel’s exciting activities, such as ziplining through mangrove forests, rock climbing and hiking along verdant trails, during your stay. There’s also a kids’ club, five swimming pools, a handful of restaurants and several bars.

This vast resort lies on the dramatic headland peninsula of Port Launay, sprawling across nearly 300 acres. The two sublime beaches lie on each side, separated by the main resort area and mangrove forests. The south side cove of Lans Ilet is known for its calm shallow waters, perfect for swimming, while the breathtaking northern beach is encompassed by giant granite boulders and deeper azure-blue waters which are ideal for snorkelling and diving. The scenic hiking trails of Morne Seychelles National Park are less than two miles away, where you can explore diverse ecosystems and summit the archipelago’s highest peak. You can also visit the capital of the Seychelles, Victoria, just over ten miles away to explore the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens or the vibrant Sir Selwyn Clarke Market. Victoria-Seychelles Airport is around 14 miles away from Constance Ephelia and the transfer time takes around 45 minutes as you have to drive over the mountain.

The spacious accommodation ranges from Junior Suites to luxury villas with private pools. Rooms are warm and inviting, with neutral colour schemes, hardwood furnishings and orange or turquoise accents. Each room features a minibar and Nespresso coffee machine, in addition to an Apple Mac mini. Junior Suites, which are located on the south side of the property, are ideal for couples or smaller families who want a combined living and bedroom space with a king-size bed and sofa bed. Senior suites are situated on the more exclusive north beach of Port Launay, providing even more space for larger families or groups. The two-storey Two Bedroom Beach Villas are also situated on the north side, complete two bedrooms, two en suite bathrooms, a separate living room, an outdoor pergola and a private swimming pool set in tropical gardens. Villas include complimentary bicycles, so you can easily explore the island’s natural beauty.

Other facilities

Spend days lounging around the four inviting swimming pools, strategically placed at the back of the South Beach (villas are on the north side, with their own private pools). There is also a lap pool at the gym on the south side of the property, and another pool adjacent to Cyann Restaurant on the north side of the property. Stroll along the pristine coastline, relax on a sunlounger and try an array of free non-motorised water sports on the two beaches – including, snorkelling, pedal boating, catamaran sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. You can also take up a variety of activities for a supplementary charge, such as scuba diving, yoga lessons, rock climbing, mountain biking (excludes villa guests) and ziplining.

The 5000 metres of the spa village are centrally located, encircled by lush green mountains and rare tropical vegetation. This peaceful sanctuary offers a huge hydrotherapy pool that’s surrounded by multiple treatment rooms – including three couple suites with spa bathtubs. Other wellness facilities include several therapy pools, a yoga pavilion, a steam room, a sauna and a Kneipp foot path. You can book a range of specialist treatments for an extra charge, including massages, facials and body treatments inspired by the island’s natural flora and fauna. Their deluxe treatments use exclusive U Spa products, and beauty treatments include manicures and pedicures. After your treatment, you can unwind in the outdoor relaxation area or head to the beachside Adam and Eve Bar to sip on a healthy juice, served in a green coconut.

Additional resort facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, four tennis courts and a squash court. You can walk or hop on a complimentary buggy to get around the entire resort. Children between the ages of 4 and 11 years can join enthusiastic Constance Kids Club coordinators, who will supervise as they swim, learn traditional crafts, play games and more throughout the day. Children will gain respect for the surrounding environment during trips to the protected mangroves or whilst planting trees. Babysitting service is also available for an extra charge.

Dining information

Constance Ephelia has five restaurants and five bars. Menus can be adapted for young diners, and chefs can cater for special dietary requirements. There are three restaurants situated on the south beach side, including Corossol, the main buffet-style venue that opens for breakfast and dinner. This popular family restaurant provides a generous breakfast spread – with buffet stations for pancakes, waffles, omelettes and baked goods – followed by themed international dinner buffets with live show cooking. There’s also the Mediterranean-themed Helios restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, and Adam & Eve which specialises in Asian cuisine.

On the north beach side, Seselwa is the main restaurant, set overlooking the gorgeous sandy expanses of north beach. If you’re staying in a Senior Suite or Villa, you will take your breakfast here. You can also enjoy Creole specialties at this all-day restaurant. For fine dining, try the a la carte restaurant, Cyann, which boasts scenic views across the Port Launay marine park. This elegant venue serves a fine selection of sushi for lunch, while the dinner menu features a delightful array of signature dishes.

For something lighter, head to Kabana to order drinks, ice creams or sandwiches, all served in biodegradable containers. There are also five bars where you can order a variety of drinks, including Zee Bar – a great spot live music and dancing in the evening – and the Adam and Eve Bar, which specialises in fruit or vegetable smoothies and juices. Cyann Bar presents a wide selection of aged rums from around the world, and the sommeliers here can handpick wines from the in-house cellar.

Additional information

To avoid disappointment, you should make reservations at all a la carte restaurants.

There’s a casual chic dress code in all food and beverage outlets. During the day, you can wear shorts, tee shirts and polo shirts, but swimwear must always be covered. In the evening, you can wear trousers or tailored shorts and sleeved collared shirts (including polo shirts). Swimwear, sleeveless shirts and casual footwear (flip flops and slippers) are not permitted. Cyann is the only restaurant with a formal evening dress code. Men should wear long trousers, collared shirts (or polo shirts) and footwear.
