Overview

A quiet, friendly property just outside Funchal, The Residence Porto Mare is a great hotel for self-catering in Madeira. There are leafy grounds with restaurants and bars, plus a selection of indoor and outdoor pools in the wider resort.

The hotel is situated on more than 13,000m2 of property with dedicated gardens. It’s also less than two miles from the centre of Funchal, the largest city on the island. The seafront promenade and a community lido are all that separate you from the Atlantic Ocean, just 100 metres away, and you can enjoy gorgeous sea views at the resort.

The Residence Porto Mare attracts plenty of return visitors, which gives it a real community feel. The apartments are spacious, allowing three or more to comfortably share the rooms. The microwave, fridge and tea and coffee facilities make self-catering a breeze, and there’s a nearby supermarket for all-important milk runs.

Stop by the Atlantida Restaurant for daily international themed buffets. Alfama is an a la carte restaurant serving Portuguese fare, and Il Basilico serves Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner. You'll find a healthy food haven at Horta. Order fresh, innovative fare and comforting dishes crafted using locally sourced ingredients - some taken from PortoBay's very own vegetable garden. Dine alfresco on the open-air terrace or in the warm indoor ambiance. This eatery also features a spacious bar area where you can sip signature cocktails and mixers. You can also find light bites at the Varanda pool bar. The Oceano Bar boasts live music, and Portofino Bar hosts regular Happy Hours with discounted drinks.

Upgrade to the half board and half board plus options to enjoy dinner buffet style at the Restaurant Atlantida or a dining credit of EUR 17 (per person, per day) to use in the a la carte restaurants; Alfama (Portuguese), Il Basilico (Italian) and Restaurant Horta (healthy comfort food).
