Overview

A long-standing fixture on the Las Vegas Strip, Flamingo Las Vegas boasts a stellar location and is bursting with character. Founded by notorious mobster Benjamin ‘Bugsy’ Siegel in 1946, this retro resort features a massive 7200 square-metre casino, with slot machines, blackjack, crap tables, roulette and much, much more. Plenty of restaurants and bars will fuel your Vegas adventures, while two pools and a spa offer places to chill.

Established before its neighbours, Flamingo Las Vegas is centrally situated on the Strip, with the area’s best-known attractions having set up alongside. It’s opposite Caesars Palace and Bellagio – and its fountains, and is flanked by The LINQ Promenade, which offers restaurants, shops and the world’s second-tallest observation wheel, the High Roller. Paris Las Vegas is on the resort’s other side. The city’s monorail stops right outside Flamingo Las Vegas, so you can easily scale more of the Strip if you desire. Harry Reid International Airport is just over three miles away.

With architectural design reminiscent of 1930s art moderne style, bedecked with palm trees and pink neon lights, the Flamingo could easily belong in Miami or Havana. Flamingo pink is the theme throughout this resort, and you’ll see it everywhere from the walls to the floors, and into the rooms and suites. Accommodation varies in style, and some offer stunning views of the High Roller observation wheel, towering 550 feet above. Although GO and Fab rooms are functional and offer great value for money, they could benefit from a refresh as the decor is a little tired in places. If you're looking for added comfort, we recommend upgrading to the Flamingo rooms, providing a modern twist on the resort theme, with a mid-century touch, bright white bathrooms and artwork celebrating the property’s history.

The vast outdoor space covers 15 acres, with gardens, winding streams and cascading waterfalls creating a calmer contrast to the bustling Strip. There’s even a garden chapel for wedding ceremonies, while commemorative bricks can be inscribed with a message and laid along the garden pathways. The grounds are also home to the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, with flamingos, exotic birds, turtles and fish.

The pools offer two very different settings. The family-friendly Beach Club Pool has waterfalls, a lagoon-style setting and a water slide, while the adult-only GO Pool turns up the energy with five pools, a swim-up bar, waterfalls and DJ entertainment. Private cabanas are also available to rent, and access is for those aged 21 and over.

As night falls, live productions, comedy acts and late-night performances bring plenty of entertainment to the resort. The casino keeps things lively with a wide selection of slot machines and table games, as well as sports betting.

For some downtime, head to the spa for customised massages, facials and wellness treatments. There’s also a steam room, sauna and whirlpools, while the fitness centre offers a range of cardio and strength-training equipment.

Dining information

There’s plenty of choice when it comes to dining. Flamingo Food Hall brings together a variety of quick-service options, including burgers, sandwiches and hand-spun shakes at Johnny Rockets. Havana 1957 brings Cuban flavours to the mix, while Carlos'n Charlie's pairs Mexican favourites with a lively atmosphere that shifts from family-friendly dining by day to more of a party setting after dark.

For something a little more refined, Bugsy & Meyer's Steakhouse channels old-school Las Vegas glamour from behind a discreet bakery-inspired entrance. Pinky's by Vanderpump combines playful dishes with creative cocktails, while Gordon Ramsay Burger puts the celebrity chef's spin on American comfort food, from gourmet burgers to chicken sandwiches and shakes.

By the pool, Beach Club Bar & Grill serves casual bites and refreshing drinks. Starbucks covers coffee and snacks, Nook Express has pastries and grab-and-go options, while Salt & Straw is the place for inventive ice cream flavours.

Drinks come with plenty of atmosphere, too. The Count Room, for those aged 21 and over, takes its cue from a hidden speakeasy, pairing cocktails with small plates. Bugsy's Bar combines around-the-clock drinks with big-screen sports, while Bird Bar keeps things lively with beer pong and an outdoor patio overlooking the Strip.
