There is no shortage of pools here. Make the most of the Terra area’s six outdoor pools, five children’s pools and outdoor heated pool surrounded by white sun loungers and available for all. There is also an indoor heated pool. If you stay in the Exclusive Adult Rooms area, you also have the option to lounge by three outdoor heated pools , swim in the Spira Pool or unwind in the outdoor heated Jacuzzi pool – not a bad reason to upgrade.

Meanwhile, little ones and teens will love Creta Maris Waterpark filled with winding slides and water rides. The multi-level Aquatower pool is home to a lazy river and a spray action zone. For something more relaxing, the spa is sure to delight. Treat yourself to a hammam, relax in the sauna or opt for a hydromassage. You can also try a Cretan massage or get holiday ready with manicures and pedicures.

Alternatively, hop on a bike or cross trainer at the fitness centre. There are also five-a-side football, basketball and two tennis courts (prebooking required) to keep the entire family entertained. Those looking for exercise with a few extra twists, salsa, bachata and local syrtaki dance classes are on offer (for ages 15 +). Meanwhile, teens and adults alike can join in with table tennis, yoga (12 +) and aqua gym (15+).

Babysitting is available for kids (aged up to 5) –. Otherwise, the Asterias Kids Club looks after tots aged 4 to 12. Little ones can unleash their energy at the playground and find calm in yoga and story time. The play kitchen is also sure to be a winner. Teens aged 13 to 17 can play water polo and football.

Make the most of the arcade game area filled with air hockey and shuffleboard. The open-air cinema also beckons, which is set up like an amphitheatre and showcases Hollywood classics under the stars. Alternatively, enjoy the outdoors at the on-site farm, whose gardens are sprouting with peppers and herbs that supply the restaurants. Plus, you can sample local wines, like Malvasia di Candia, at the vineyard with dreamy sea views. If you’re after a truly authentic experience, time your visit for August to join in with the harvesting process – from picking the grapes to pressing the wine. Agora Market is the place to watch potters mould clay and pick up some unique trinkets.

Dining information

For all-day buffet dining, visit Enomy or Estia – both offer Mediterranean cuisine and international favourites, like salads, pasta and pizza. Estia also boasts a tempting ice cream corner. If you’re craving a pick-me-up during the day, head to Kritamo’s fresh salad station or hop over to Valsamo to enjoy a medley of berries and cherries. Arismari also serves tantalising Greek cuisine al fresco , all day (reservations are required for the a la carte dinner).

Once dinner time arrives, you’re spoilt for choice and sea views. Mademi tempts you with grilled steaks and souvlaki, while Alatsi serves Cretan style seabass and an extensive wine list. This venue also occasionally hosts exclusive adult-only evenings. Platia specialises in mezze dishes served in artisanal ceramics – think tzatziki dips, flavoursome breads and grilled peppers. Plus, Pithos is not to be missed. Here you can savour the ingredients from the hotel’s farm and tuck into roast lamb and the much-loved galaktoboureko – a Greek custard pie. Private seaside dining here is perfect for celebrations.

When it comes to drinks, there is plenty of choice. Arodamo Juices & Smoothies is great for something healthy, and Vegera Lounge Bar is ideal for coffee and cocktails all day. If you’re thirsty in between dips, Ruga Pool Bar and Kourites Pool Bar keep you covered with freddo espressos, soft drinks and draught beers. Kourites Pool Bar even has waffles, crepes and ice cream. Speaking of poolside spots, head to the Waterpark Bar to refuel with soft drinks, hot dogs and burgers. Stop off at the Aperol Spritz Bar for a dose of dolce vita or retreat under the ficus trees at Steki Bar. Here you can try Turkish coffee, play a game of chess or sip on a potent ouzo – if you’re up for it.

Meanwhile, Sima Beach Bar and Adama cocktail bar are exclusively adult-only and mix up cool cocktails with sea views. Adults can also enjoy cheeseboards and Cretan wine tastings at the Nami Wine Cellar. Alternatively, chill out at the Cinema Bar or Idaia Bar, where you can admire the Aegean Sea from inside or outdoors.

Please note that the minimum height for the waterslides is 120cm and there is a weight limit of 120kg. Meanwhile, the Aquatower Pool has a minimum height of 100cm and children aged 3 years and above can use this pool. Parent/guardian supervision is also required.

The use of the tennis courts and private tennis lessons must be booked in advanced. Babysitting, the kids club and the teens club are only available in the summer season. Babysitting and the kids’ club must also be prebooked and some extra activities offered may incur an extra cost. Please check locally for valid inclusions and costs. parental supervision is required during babysitting services.

Please also be aware that all restaurants require reservations for dinner, and no beachwear, sportswear or flip flops are permitted in the evenings at any restaurants.
