This seductive resort lies less than a mile from the historical town of Cefalu on Sicily’s northern coast. The historic Arab Norman town offers miles of sandy beach, lapped with shallow Mediterranean waters made for paddling. Walk along the warrens of rust-hued houses that hug its slopes and visit its cafe-lined streets to sip an espresso in the shade of its cathedral. The landmark rocky outcrop, La Rocca, offers stunning views of Palermo. Travel nine miles to Parco delle Madonue, the Unesco World Heritage Site, for herds of deer and medieval villages. Alternatively visit the 14th-Century castle Castelbuono 16 miles away. Palermo airport (PMO) is 51 miles from the resort, with a journey time of 1.5 hours.
The spacious rooms and villettas each feature a private terrace or balcony to take in views of the sea or the Mediterranean landscape. The rooms, ranging from Superior to one-bedroom suites are decorated in a contemporary style with elegant rustic touches, such as drystone walls. However, the wooden villettas are the real showstoppers, perched on rocks around the resort – with many boasting 360-degree sea views. All have a free-standing bath and rainfall shower and sun loungers on their private terraces.

The gym has modern machines and weights and runs fitness classes, including Pilates and Yoga by Heberson. You can take classes by the coast – or atop a paddleboard – and book treatments at the incredible Club Med Spa by Sothys, which looks to the Strait of Sicily. Although there is no kids' club, children at the resort can book on to the general, age-appropriate resort activities, at their designated time.
Come evening, enjoy cocktails beside the pool or wild swim in the natural, unheated rainwater of its Zen pool, filtered entirely by reefs. Sip unlimited champagne by the infinity pool at the social Assuro bar or a tranquil sundowner at its beach bar. A live programme of music, dancing and entertainment runs in the evenings.
Dining information
La Rocca buffet serves local specialities and international cuisine from breakfast to dinner. Come summertime, dine on their open-air terrace, drinking in fabulous views over the bay. Indoor dining areas are also available. La Riva is the outdoor, beachside restaurant, offering freshly grilled seafood, granita and gelato until the end of October. Riva Beach Restaurant is where sea breeze, Southern flavours and just-caught fish come together. Think lobster or beautiful beef rib straight off the Josper grill, light Meditertianan-style bites and dinners that drift into dreamy evenings under the stars.
The 18th Century palazzo is home to the Italian restaurant Il Palazzo Gourmet Lounge, complete with a wine bar. Enjoy all-day dining from late breakfast, or stop by for dinner as a special treat to sample fare dreamed up by Michelin-starred chef, Andrea Berton (booking is advisable). The palazzo also hosts Paparazzo bar, which includes a delicatessen counter.
The lively Azzuro bar offers snacks and peers over the main pool. Meanwhile, Il Covo Bar is your beachside go-to, serving cool cocktails and other refreshments.
