Are you ready to discover Dubrovnik?

Croatia is a European gem, with coastal wonders and idyllic islands – and Dubrovnik is a city not to be missed. See the medieval marvels of the Old Town, the jaw-dropping panoramic views from the top of Srd Hill and discover island-hopping adventures. Whether you want to find remote beaches, or get up-close to ancient architecture, you can in Dubrovnik.

The best way to see the city is by foot. Start your break away by venturing around the Old Town’s city walls and visiting the Gothic-Renaissance Rector’s Palace. Walk in the steps of your favourite Game of Thrones stars, as you discover numerous filming spots including Minčeta tower and Pile Gate. Make a visit to the Franciscan Monastery, a medieval pharmacy where you can smell sweet-scented oranges in the garden – avoid the crowds by visiting late in the day. Hop on a taxi boat and make a trip to the neighbouring island of Lokrum. Wander through the botanical gardens and sip on afternoon beers in the Lacroma bar. Get ready to explore Dubrovnik.

See the sights

Dubrovnik is bursting with culture and iconic hot spots; you only need to meander through the streets of the Old Town to see it. Start with a visit to the city’s oldest market, Gundulićeva poljana, in the Old Town and pick-up the perfect picnic feast. Keep an eye-out for the lively year-round festivals, see the emotive War Photo Limited gallery, then ride the cable car to the top of Srd Hill – learn a little history and soak up the views of the peach-coloured rooftops and sparkling Adriatic Sea.

Bask on the best beaches

Just a five-minute walk from Ploče Gate is Banje Beach – Dubrovnik’s refreshing waterside retreat. Although it’s pebbly and charmingly rugged, the sea is crystal-clear and there are deck chairs and sun loungers for hire. A favourite with the locals and usually uncrowded, is Sveti Jakov beach. It’s a half an hour walk from the Old Town or five-minute drive if you have a hire car. Make a splash in the turquoise sea, bring plenty of beach towels for a picnic on the rocky shores and gaze across to Lokrum Island. Head over to the other side of Dubrovnik, to the shallow surf and pebbled shore of Copacabana Beach. For the adventurous, there is sea kayaking, banana boat-riding and jet-skiing opportunities.

Just offshore from Dubrovnik are the tranquil islands of Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan, which can be visited by ferry on half or full day trips. Keen swimmers can venture into the Blue Cave on Kolocep, walkers can explore the luscious trails of Lopud and wine lovers can visit the small villages and vineyards on Sipan. Venture further and visit the beautiful island of Korcula or the glitz and glamour party island, Hvar.

Nightlife in Dubrovnik

Begin your evening by wandering along the lively Placa street (Stradun), with its hum of live music, wine bars (the local wine is a must-try) and assortment of pubs. Discover the Buza bars, tucked into the city walls along the coast. Reach them by the hole-in-the-wall of the Old Town and if you can, visit Café Buza. There are steep steps to find it, but it’s worth it for the iced cold drinks and sweeping sea views. If you’re looking for somewhere to party until the early hours, make a move to Culture Club Revelin. Hidden inside the Revelin Fortress, the venue hosts world-famous DJs, chart performers, events and buzzes with an electric atmosphere.
