The property dates back to 1699, when it operated as a military fort, and historical canons are still strewn around the grounds. With just 39 rooms, the hotel has an intimate feel. The white four-storey building teeters over the water’s edge, offering unobstructed views from each room. Oceanfront Rooms are located in the most modern area of the hotel, while Deluxe Oceanfront Rooms are larger. The spacious Oceanfront Suites are each named after a Dominican historical figure and provide a dressing room, dining area and bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower.

Dining information
The Palisades is the hotel’s main restaurant, and the capital’s only seaside dining venue, accessible via the hotel’s private jetty. It serves international and Creole-style dishes for lunch and dinner, from locally caught lionfish to ‘fort nut’ soup, with carrot, ginger and coconut callaloo. Warner’s Bar is located beneath The Palisades and provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a choice of drinks, and a Friday happy hour.
