Overview

Calabash Cove is an adult-only boutique resort that’s set on a gently sloping hillside, overlooking Bonaire Bay on the north west coast of St Lucia. The hotel appeals to adult couples with its on-site spa, infinity pool and impressive restaurant, all of which overlook the spectacular Caribbean Sea. Beautifully manicured gardens trail down to a secluded, white sand beach, and all of the 26 spacious suites feature a whirlpool bathtub.

Calabash Cove is positioned between Castries and Rodney Bay. In Castries, which is around four miles away, you can visit the bars along the palm-lined Vigie Beach, wander around the central market and browse the duty-free shops in the harbour. Rodney Bay is around four miles north of the resort, offering plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs – and you can head out to Gros Islet on Friday nights to join the popular local street party. Hewanorra International Airport sits on the island’s southern tip, around 37 miles (or an hour’s drive) from the resort.

The 26 suites and cottages are decorated in a contemporary Caribbean Style, with natural materials and coral or turquoise soft furnishings. All rooms feature a private balcony or terrace, in addition to a whirlpool bathtub. The standard Sunset Ocean View Junior Suites overlook the Caribbean Sea, as do the Water's Edge Cottages which feature a private veranda with a plunge pool and outdoor shower. If you prefer to stay close to the infinity pool, book a Swim Up Junior Suite with a private patio and direct pool access. Please note that most rooms are located up a steep hillside and not suitable for those with disabilities.

You can spend hours relaxing around the infinity-edged pool, admiring sweeping views across the Caribbean Sea, before touring the beautiful Cove Gardens. The tropical gardens sprawl down the hillside, complete with a miniature cane field, pineapple bed, banana patches and herb garden. A garden pathway trails down to the white sand beach, where you can recline on a sun lounger or swim in the crystal-clear waters.

Located next to the infinity pool, Ti Spa is the ideal place to indulge the senses. The spa uses local, natural ingredients in exfoliation treatments − including coffee and papaya body scrubs − and you can book a massage on the boardwalk, in a gazebo or in the privacy of your room patio or cottage living room. Salon treatments, facials and speciality spa packages are also available for a supplement charge, and there’s a spacious, air-conditioned fitness centre that peers over the picturesque bay.

With concierge service, you can book a range of individually tailored excursions, including tours of Gros Piton and island hiking trips.

Dining information

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Windsong Restaurant serves a fabulous mix of international cuisine and local Creole fare. Most of the dishes incorporate fresh, local ingredients, and there are daily specials for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is set on the hillside, boasting mesmerising views of the Caribbean Sea.

During the day, you can order a variety of beverages at the Swim-Up Pool Bar, as well as lighter meals, such as salads, savoury croissants, jerk chicken, sandwiches, grilled seafood and burgers. There’s also C-Bar, which is the best place to watch the sunset with a signature cocktail in hand.
