Overview

Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Resort is an all-inclusive, adult-only resort, set within the exclusive gated Cap Cana community in the Dominican Republic. This luxurious 324-suite resort resembles a colonial, Spanish castle town perched on a cliff by the ocean, offering over 30,000 acres of pristine beaches, manicured gardens and oceanfront roads. It's also home to a world-class marina and golf course. On the village-style property, you will find elegant suites, five swimming pools, a luxury spa and a fine selection of restaurants, including Blue Marlin Restaurant, perched on stilts overlooking the ocean. Plenty of daytime and evening activities are on offer, from yoga and meditation, to dancing lessons and beachfront water sports.

Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Resort is located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, within the sprawling Cap Cana development. It offers a scenic and private stretch of white-sand beach, although you can take a long walk to reach Juanillo Beach, too. Golfers will especially enjoy the renowned, oceanfront course of Punta Espada Golf Club, four miles away. The tourist town of Bavaro is less than 19 miles away, and Punta Cana International Airport is around a 15-minute drive from the hotel.

The elegant suites complement the property’s Spanish colonial architecture and are situated in two different areas – the Colonial Section and Castle Selection. There’s a dedicated Villas Section, too. The suites are light and airy, with beige tiled floors (or wooden floors), white walls, white bed linens, and wooden furnishings. They all feature a minibar (restocked daily), several USB ports, a pillow menu, espresso machine, flat-screen TV and furnished balcony or patio – while all bathrooms feature a double jetted bathtub, double vanity sinks, a generous selection of toiletries, and cotton bathrobes and slippers. Some rooms offer beachfront access or superior Caribbean Sea views with outside jetted hot tub, while others offer swim-out pool access and butler service.

There are five attractive swimming pools dotted around the grounds, including a saltwater pool and a lagoon-style pool, which comes complete with a swim-up bar and ocean views. The moat around the castle building is also swimmable. Make the most of the poolside drinks service and cosy cabanas, or simply relax on one of the many sun loungers available by the pool or on the private beach.

The Sanctuary Spa is the ultimate relaxation zone, offering a small pool, sauna, and steam room – as well as a beauty salon, multi-step hydro circuit and healthy snack bar. You can benefit from an array of revitalising treatments here, which include a selection of massages, facials, manicures and pedicures for an extra charge.

There are also plenty of recreational activities on offer. Enjoy water sports for a supplement charge. Otherwise, join in water aerobics sessions, yoga and meditation classes, or games of ping pong, darts and beach volleyball. You can also head to the spacious on-site fitness centre to work out or learn new moves at Club Dance.

The Sanctuary Town (open seasonally) is home to cafes, bars and all-inclusive restaurants. Here in the evenings, live nightly entertainment is provided in the form of karaoke, disco, beach parties and nightclub events.

Dining information

Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Resort is home to a tempting blend of restaurants and bars. Casa Bella is an all-day buffet restaurant which serves international cuisine with a tropical twist. Breakfast is a leisurely affair, where eggs are made to order, breads are in abundance, as is fresh fruit. The Coffee Shop brews a variety of coffee blends, accompanied by freshly baked pastries.

There are also four a la carte restaurants. Blue Marlin serves fresh seafood for lunch and dinner – overlooking the Caribbean Sea – while Capriccio specialises in northern Italian cuisine. For tasty sushi and teppanyaki dishes, head to the Wok; or sample succulent tomahawk steak, giant prawns, creamy mash and Caesar salad at The Steakhouse. Be sure to save space for a rich tarte tatin and ice cream for dessert.

Order drinks and refreshments at the piano bar, swim-up bar, oceanfront lounge or beach bar. For light snacks and grilled specialities, don’t miss the poolside snack bar.
