Overview

Coco Key Hotel and Water Park Resort is a family-friendly hotel located on International Drive, within easy reach of Orlando’s theme parks, dining, shopping and entertainment outlets. The resort boasts an outdoor pool and hot tub, a fitness centre, a superb games arcade and a vast outdoor water park. There are two on-site dining options and a bar, as well as a convenience store for grab-and-go treats and holiday essentials.

The hotel’s location is a big draw for families, and it’s easy to see why. It’s less than three miles from Universal Orlando Resort, which features four theme parks and a water park, reached via the complimentary shuttle. Jump on the I-Ride Trolley stop directly in front of the property to ICON Park on International Drive. Here you have access to an abundance of restaurants, bars, shops and must-see attractions, including Madam Tussauds, Chocolate Kingdom and Adventure Golf. Beach-wise, you have plenty to choose from, the closest and most direct being Cocoa Beach. It’s a popular surfing beach with the added attraction of a pier. Orlando International Airport is approximately 16 miles away.

The hotel offers incredibly spacious rooms and suites, decorated in a neutral colour with warm, wooden flooring. Although the accommodation could benefit from a little upgrade, the space is suitable for when you’re not making a splash at the water park. They feature everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a flat-screen TV, digital safe, coffee maker and mini-fridge to stock up on your essentials. Convenient rooms near the water park area can be a little noisy during peak times, but it doesn’t matter if you’re out hitting the waves and having fun.

The hotel’s stand-out feature is the vast outdoor water park and canopy covered kids' pool, and arcade. It features 14 slides and rides, a special Minnows Lagoon for children under 36-inches tall with miniature slides and fountains, and over 600 m2 dedicated to Splash Zone Arcade, featuring classic arcade games. There’s also Coral Reef teen pool and a large main pool that’s surrounded by sun loungers and swaying palm trees, a separate hot tub and Parrot's Peach interactive play area. You have access to a fitness centre and Jacuzzi, too.

Tradewinds Restaurant is the hotel’s on-site option for buffet breakfast – one child under 12 years old eats for free with one paying adult. For a relaxed, family-friendly meal, head over to Callaloo Grill. For lunch and dinner, there’s a good choice of burgers, chicken, wraps, salads and more, in addition to fruit smoothies, frozen cocktails, beer and wine. Beside the water park is Wet Rooster Tiki Bar. Open all day ‘til late, it’s a good spot for a cool drink while little ones are occupied in the pool. Stop by the Gators gift shop for essential provisions, grab-and-go options or a souvenir, or Starbucks Coffee Shop for your favourite caffeine fix.
