As well as a seemingly endless stretch of fine sugary sands, you'll find the resort’s pool fringed by palms and surrounded by wooden sun loungers and white umbrellas.

If you can bring yourself to leave your lounger, a huge range of water activities include snorkelling, diving boat cruises, catamaran sailing, private boat rental, windsurfing, jet skiing and wakeboarding (charges apply for some activities).

Your stay isn’t complete without a trip to Avi Spa. Sat atop the water, a host of treatments are inspired by the natural surroundings, incorporating ingredients such as coconut, mango, wildflowers and spices with products from Eminence Organics and Margaret Dabbs’ botanical PURE range. Be tempted by the AVI Signature Treatment – a massage combining warm jade stones and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi techniques to melt tension away and renew energy. Facials include the Marine Flower Peptide Collagen Boosting Facial, using botanical peptides and algae to promote collagen production. Care for the mind and body at a sunrise or sunset yoga session, or a meditation class. The modern fitness centre is open 24-hours.

Young guests from 4 to 12 will love the Planet Trekkers club, a fun, nautical-themed area to play and make friends. There’s a library corner, an area just for toddlers with walkers, animal puppets and soft ball sets. The outdoor space contains a splash pool, large garden and pirate ship climbing frame. Activities include crafts, palm leaf weaving, cooking classes, sand sculpting and learning about the surrounding marine life from marine biologists and the Manta Trust team. Babysitting is available for children over one year of age (reservations required 24 hours in advance and charges apply).

Dine with unobstructed beach views for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Cafe Umi. After a tempting buffet in the mornings, expect elevated comfort foods with a Japanese flair and interactive teppanyaki station. Adults can also tuck into a light lunch at The Retreat, an adult-only hideaway perched above the water. Stay here for cooling cocktails and premium wines and cheeses in the evenings. The Collective is also on hand when hunger strikes, offering fresh pastries, wraps and wood fired pizzas by the main pool. In the evenings, experience Fish Market’s ‘sea to table’ concept, paired with the flavours of Southeast Asia – or indulge in Mediterranean fare at The Lighthouse. Start your visit to the restaurant with an aperitif, as you admire 360-degree views from the top of the lighthouse.

Two bars include the pool bar, which also sits close to the beach. It’s the ideal place to sip a refreshing drink from the main pool swim-up bar or take in the views with a cocktail. Designed to replicate the helm of a traditional Dhoni boat, Sunset Bar features a Champagne sommelier and cocktails with infused ice spheres, and a laid-back soundtrack.

The Club InterContinental concept allows you to an enjoy afternoon tea and aperitif hour at The Collective or The Retreat (at selected times). You can also enjoy a selection of soft drinks and water at The Pool Bar and The Retreat, as well as by the pool and beach (at select times).
