Dotted around the grounds are five inviting pools. There’s the main pool, an adult-only pool, kids and baby pools and the exclusive Deluxe Collection pool. All are beautifully designed, furnished with comfy sunbeds and umbrellas – with an attentive pool service that allows you to fully relax. For uninterrupted sunbathing time, parents can also take advantage of the 30 minutes free poolside childcare. Head down to one of two secluded sandy coves featuring soft sand and gently sloping water, with a bar and lounger service here too.

You won’t be short on entertainment with both day and night activities. Spend time on the water with 20 minutes of canoeing, paddling and pedalo included each day, or try an introductory diving lesson in the pool. On land keep active on the tennis and padel courts or take part in a group class such as yoga and Pilates. In addition, you can take private tennis tuition, boat tours and scuba diving, though these incur an additional charge. Tune in to nightly entertainment which can be checked in advance via the Ikos App. For those eager to explore, the resort also offers complimentary electric-vehicle rentals, with one day included for standard guests and two days for those in Deluxe Collection accommodation.

While you relax, children aged 4 to 12 can partake in sports, games, science experiments and more at Heroes Kids Club, while Just4Teens provides a sociable environment for over 12’s. Kids aged 5 to 18 can enjoy tennis academy Monday to Saturday (extra cost). Other kids’ sports classes will include Zumba, yoga, and athletics – these will be for those aged 4 to 7-years-old and held in the outdoor gym area. The indoor gym and outdoor gym are open until 21:00. Kids playground includes swings for babies and kids, giant chess, a rope jungle gym and a trampoline. Family holidays are a breeze with a plethora of amenities on request (and subject to availability), from pram rental to baby baths and toilet adapters. There’s an on-site playground, nappy changing facilities and a mini market stocking family essentials. From ages six months to three years there’s Heroes Creche – at an additional charge. All childcare is run by childcare experts operating to Ofsted standards and ratios. In the evenings, book your little ones (aged 4 to 12) in at the Heroes Supper Club (additional charge and subject to availability). Whilst here, they’ll enjoy tasty buffet bites, followed by some supervised, post-dinner playtime.

When it’s time to unwind the superb Anne Semonin spa awaits. Laze in the semicircle indoor pool, whilst gazing out of the huge windows which overlook the gardens. Indulge in a range of treatments or frequent the thermal circuit which is home to a sauna, steam room, relaxation area and themed showers. There’s also a nail salon and hair salon by Geoffrey Lopilato at an extra charge.

Gastronomy is a real treat at Ikos Porto Petro, with a la carte menus – some of which were created by Michelin star chefs – all included within your stay. The Market offers breezy buffet dining, with international cuisine catering to a range of tastes and serving dishes a la minute. For a refined atmosphere, Fresco plates up authentic Italian fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Anaya serves up exquisite dishes from China, Thailand and India for dinner, and modern Spanish cuisine frequents the menu at Oliva. Throughout the day you can savour Mediterranean favourites at the Beach Club, which benefits from wonderful sea views. Plus, if you’re staying in a Deluxe Collection room, you’ll have exclusive access to the Seasons Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you love to explore local eateries, you can use the Ikos Dine Out Service and dine at no extra cost at specially selected local restaurants. Deluxe Collection guests can also enjoy the Dinner by the Sea experience and dine in an exclusive beach-front setting, next to Fresco Restaurant.

Choose from five bars including Sa Torre Pool Bar, Lobby Bar, Porto Petro Bar, Beach Club Pool Bar and the exclusive Deluxe Bar – each serving tempting cocktails, premium beers and a 300-strong wine list. You could also use the beach and pool beverage services, stop by the gelaterie during the day, or enjoy the convenience of 24-hour room service.
