Soco Hotel - South Coast

SoCo manages to be chic and intimate, with an understated feel to the interiors, mostly done out in shades of white and cream. Expect rustic French Creole architecture blended with European chic and modern-day touches of flair. The entire property is enveloped by fine views of the sea.

The hotel is located above one end of Hastings Beach, a serene 300-yard stretch of white sands with a man-made breakwater which ensures safe swimming. Directly below the hotel runs an appealing boardwalk bustling with walkers and joggers that hugs the shoreline for about a mile towards Accra Beach, one of the island’s finest. There are several enticing cafes and restaurants along the way. The UNESCO-listed Garrison Savannah is a mile away, as is the Barbados Museum & Historical Society and George Washington House, the only residence of the former president outside of the US. For pulsating nightlife head two miles along the coast towards St Lawrence Gap where the brick-paved streets illuminated by antique streetlamps come to life with bars, clubs, restaurants and lounges. Harbour Lights, two miles along the coast towards Bridgetown, is a good place to mix it with locals at their regular Barbadian party nights or you can enjoy a traditional Fish Fry in the fishing town of Oistins, under four miles away. Arrive early to catch sea turtles hunting for scraps around the jetty. The entire south coast offers a fantastic range of water sports to enjoy in prime conditions, including surfing, kitesurfing, paddle boarding and windsurfing. Grantley Adams International Airport about nine miles away.

The stylish and spacious rooms are minimally furnished with cream leather sofas and headboards, pieces of abstract art and light wooden furniture. They benefit from balconies with mesmerising sea views and large walk-in showers. Upgrade to a Deluxe Corner Room for slightly more space or request a higher room for the best sea and sunset views. The hotel is located just off a main road so prepare for a little light traffic noise.
