Belfast flight FAQ's

Flights from London to Belfast City Airport take around one hour and 25 minutes.

The cheapest month to fly from London to Belfast is usually January or February.

You can travel on a budget in Belfast, keeping in mind that the local currency is the British pound, not the Euro. As it’s a smaller city, the cost of eating out and entertainment is much more affordable. Belfast is also inexpensive to get around, with public transport to most major attractions.

Save on sit-down meals by sampling the goods on offer at St George’s Market, an indoor market that’s been open since 1896. Pop in during its opening hours Friday to Sunday and discover artisanal wares, food stalls, gifts and more.

George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD) is just three miles from the city centre, or a 15-minute journey by car. The Airport Express bus service operates every 30 or 40 minutes from the airport to the Belfast Europa Bus Centre in the heart of the city. You’ll find a taxi rank outside the terminal building too.

Getting around Belfast is straightforward as you can walk to most of the main attractions. There are also plenty of trains and buses covering the whole city and beyond.

You can hire a car with British Airways if you want to see more of what Northern Ireland has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

Perfect for a weekend break, Belfast is a small but vibrant city shaped by its cobbled streets, Victorian architecture and modern food markets.

Northern Ireland’s charms also extend well beyond Belfast itself. Head out along the rugged Causeway Coastal Route, stopping by the striking 12th-century Carrickfergus Castle on the shore of Belfast Lough. Or you’re less than 90 minutes away from the Giant’s Causeway on the north coast. This unmissable World Heritage Site is made up of 40,000 black basalt columns that rise from the sea. Local legend has it that these huge structures were made by the giant Finn McCool to cross the channel to Scotland.
