Refund request

To request a refund of an unused British Airways ticket or to follow up on an existing refund request, please refer to the information below.

Requesting a refund for:

Requesting a refund for tickets purchased directly from British Airways

If you purchased your ticket on ba.com, over the phone with British Airways or from one of our ticket counters, you may request your refund from British Airways.

Note: Refund requests may be subject to a servicing fee.

Refund request of an electronic ticket

If you hold an electronic ticket and need to submit a new refund request, please submit your refund request using one of the following options.

Online (this is the fastest way to obtain your refund)

Email

If you are unable to access Manage My Booking, apply for your refund via email.

Email British Airways Refunds North AmericaNote: Refund requests may be subject to a servicing fee.

Fax

Customers who are unable to use the above options should apply for their refund via fax. Please be sure to send all of the below information with your refund request.

Information to include on your fax:

  • your contact details
  • passenger(s) name
  • passenger reference number (PNR)
  • ticket number(s)
  • reason for your refund request
  • any other supporting documentation

Refund request of a paper ticket

If you hold a paper ticket or are not able to apply for your refund using any of the above options, you should send your refund request via standard mail.

Please submit your refund request and be sure to include all relevant information mentioned below.

Refund of a ticket purchased from someone other than British Airways

Refund requests should be directed to the ticket issuer, so if you purchased your ticket from a travel agent, please send your refund request directly to them.

There are a number of situations, however, when you should contact British Airways directly for a refund. These are:

  1. When the ticket(s) are over 1 year old
  2. If you have lost the ticket(s) you want to refund
  3. If the ticket(s) you originally purchased from someone other than British Airways were re–issued by British Airways
  4. If you wish to refund your ticket(s) due to death or hospitalization

If your refund request falls into any of these four categories, please contact British Airways directly with your refund request.
