Holidays in Sofia
It might be an offbeat choice for a city break, but Sofia holidays have much to offer. With a city centre mixing Viennese-style tenements and grand communist era buildings, Sofia has an East meets West feel, mixing orthodox cathedrals, synagogues and mosques.
It’s one of Europe’s cheapest capitals, and local food is often excellent, combining eastern Mediterranean style grills, yoghurt and pastries with hearty more central European soups and stews. Some of Eastern Europe’s highest and wildest mountains are near the city, offering great opportunities for winter skiing or summer hiking.
