What happens in Vegas, is worth raving about

Get out your glitziest outfit. Stuff a pair of oversized sunglasses in your bag. Maybe pop a lucky charm in your pocket. This is Vegas, baby. The land of living it up. The sparkling playground in Nevada’s Mojave Desert where glamour reigns supreme. Expect gargantuan hotels with showstopping features – from a midnight-black pyramid to a palace with more than 3,500 rooms – and entertainment at every turn. Subtle? Vegas doesn’t know the meaning of the word. In this city of show-offs, flash and pizzazz are part of the (sequined) fabric.

Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas. The iconic sign at the end of the Strip, with its red star calling to revellers, beams proudly. Ride down the dazzling stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard and see a parade of glimmering lights and flashy replicas. Head to Fremont Street, the original downtown, for a glimpse of classic Vegas and listen to a mix of ringing casinos, hollering just-hitched couples and Elvis songs on repeat.

See a show that redefines ‘spectacle’, stay in a hotel that might as well be its own city and experience the infectious energy of the entertainment capital of the world. Then, when you want to gaze in wonder at something completely different, make your way to the hypnotic Grand Canyon and see the desert sun illuminate a maze of rouge and caramel-coloured rocks. Find out what happens in Vegas – and what happens in the glowing desert beyond. Book your flights to Las Vegas now.

Make the most of your Las Vegas holiday

The best hotels in Vegas aren’t just places to stay, they’re destinations. They usually boast dozens of restaurants (did someone say Vegas buffets?), pool complexes that could be mistaken for waterparks, expansive spas, glittering clubs, energetic casinos, shining stages graced by resident stars and much, much more. Start your holiday by exploring your resort – you might end up wishing you could book a residency like one of the celebs.

Where are the best places to stay in Las Vegas?

We have a huge selection of stunning Las Vegas hotels on the Strip. From themed megahotels to retro neon resorts, it’s easy to find something to suit your Vegas vibe on this iconic stretch. Alongside the likes of Caesars Palace and Bellagio, you’ll find other luxurious behemoths such as Wynn Las Vegas. Opulent and over the top, the Wynn is a true showstopper. You’ll also find classic spots like the Flamingo Las Vegas, the oldest hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The Flamingo was founded by mobster Benjamin ‘Bugsy’ Siegel in 1946; it’s easy to spot – just look out for plenty of neon pink and palm trees.

How to travel around Las Vegas?

Getting around the city is easy. Everything originates from the main strip. You can walk, jump in a cab, hop on the bus, ride the Las Vegas Monorail, or stretch out in a limousine to cruise in style. If you're planning on booking car hire in Las Vegas and going on a road trip, most of our hotels offer valet parking (at a charge). Enjoy your own set of wheels to get about town or drive through the Mojave Desert to Red Rock Canyon or Hoover Dam, before venturing further afield.

What are the best things to do in Las Vegas?

  • Sphere, at The Venetian, knows how to make a scene. The dome, standing more than 360 feet tall, catches the eye of every passerby with its humungous LED exterior. Previous displays have turned it into a pumpkin, a snow globe and a giant eyeball staring out at Sin City. Inside, Sphere is an entertainment venue looking to break boundaries and bring in big names. A massive, high-resolution screen curves around the venue, turning it into a ‘canvas’ (as U2, who were the first to perform there, described it) for ‘immersive’ concerts and performances unlike anything you’ve experienced before.
  • Watch the Las Vegas Grand Prix. After a truly Vegas (and by that we mean big, bold, and brash – complete with a themed wedding chapel) debut in 2023, this Formula 1 race on the streets of the sparkling Strip is gearing up to become a sizzling staple of motorsport. High stakes and hair-raising spectacles are to be expected; the Las Vegas Grand Prix is set to return for more bouts of racing and razzle-dazzle.
  • Be dazzled by Fremont Street. With lights chasing each other around casino entrances and giant arrows pointing to souvenir shops and food stops, and with sights like a 40-foot-tall neon cowboy winking at you, it’s clear the ‘Glitter Gulch’ has no intention of dimming its sparkle anytime soon. This is Vegas’ original downtown. See it from one of the best ziplines in Las Vegas: SlotZilla will send you flying superman-style over the Fremont Street Experience crowds. Then explore this epicentre of old-school Vegas extravagance on foot – nearby attractions include the Neon Museum, Mob Museum and Downtown Container Park.
  • From bright lights and glamour to bulldozers and excavators, there are many different sides to Las Vegas. At its heart, though, this city is all about one thing: fun. Swap the sequins for a neon yellow vest and head to Dig This. The attraction is basically a next-level sandbox where you can take control of a real digger and play like a big kid. Build mounds, dig trenches or compete in Excavator Basketball.
  • The gaping chasm of the Grand Canyon, with its wonderous medley of peaks and gorges, is one state over from Las Vegas in Arizona. Join a Grand Canyon tour or hire a car and take a road trip. Visit at sunrise or sunset to see its glorious colours – from honey yellows to fiery reds – at their best. Head straight to the South Rim and see the canyon and Colorado River stretch beneath you from Hopi Point. Alternatively, treat yourself to a helicopter tour and soar over the immense Natural Wonder of the World, taking in sights like the Hoover Dam, Fortification Hill and the Bowl of Fire.

Five iconic facts about Las Vegas

Around the world

Discover multiple cities in one when you visit Las Vegas and get a taste of countries like Egypt in the Mojave Desert. Of course, the onyx pyramid of the Luxor doesn’t quite have the historical heft of the Great Pyramid of Giza but it does have a spotlight shooting into the sky. Did you know the sphinx at the hotel is larger than the original?

Bellagio fountains

Inspired by the fountains that grace cobblestone squares in romantic cities like Paris and Rome, the Fountains of Bellagio are evidence if you ever needed it that America always has to go big. The fabulously flamboyant display features more than 1,200 water cannons that can shoot water 460 feet in the air from a manmade lake.

Las Vegas' skyline

The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower is a bold fixture in the city and home to the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. It’s not the only stand-out structure in Vegas’ skyline – High Roller at The LINQ, an observation wheel that takes you 550 feet above the Strip, is taller than the London Eye.

Las Vegas weddings

In the marriage capital of the world you can swear your devotion to one another at a drive-through chapel or get a milkshake with your marriage at a fast-food joint. You can even have a pretend marriage ceremony in some chapels – a good option for those who really do want what happens in Vegas to stay in Vegas.

Sport in Vegas

Las Vegas has seen a boom in sporting events harkened by the arrival of venues like Allegiant Stadium and teams like the NHL’s Golden Knights. The Grand Prix and Super Bowl have even set their sights on Neon City. See what sport in Vegas is all about. Expect raucous crowds and sparkling pyrotechnics, with heaps of theatricality.

Multi-city holidays

See the highlights of Las Vegas. When you’re ready to leave the frenzy, why not take a road trip to see the west coast and beyond? Choose from our available car hire options and plan the ultimate driving adventure. Hit the road and make tracks to see more of the USA. Take a look at city stops away from Nevada. Cruise through Arizona, pitch up for a few nights, then continue to California. Stay in Phoenix, drive over to San Diego or Palm Springs, then ride north along the Pacific Coast Highway. Create your own unique Las Vegas multi-city holiday – the journey of a lifetime.
