Smack in the middle of the buzzing Las Vegas Strip, the LINQ Hotel + Experience is a smart choice for Sin City on a budget. Enviably located next to one of the world’s biggest observation wheels (occasionally offering yoga or cocktails at 167 metres), the LINQ’s glitzy towers and neon lights are perfect for the young, 24-hour crowd it attracts. Its contemporary vibe includes bright pops of colour splashed throughout the hotel. The hotel operates self-check in and wraps itself around an over-21’s pool, complete with DJs, bar, comfy daybeds and cabanas. With anything from sushi to Mexican tacos spread through more than 30 restaurants and bars, you’ll be fed and watered before you hit its 35-table (and hundreds of slot machines) casino. Its rolling roster of entertainment, from magic to music means, you’ll get even more bang for your buck.

The LINQ Hotel sits on its own pedestrian promenade, thick with shops and restaurants, thankfully avoiding the bulk of the Strip’s crowds. The Fly LINQ zip line will zoom you 1,120 feet high over the Strip. It’s best to soar over the city before exploring the eats from TV chef Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen. (Head off Strip for more upscale eats.) You’re also just steps from 35-lane bowling at Brooklyn Bowl. The city’s monorail stops here and can whisk you to neighbouring casinos. A bus also runs the four-mile strip day and night, or you could hail a cab. For a dose of culture, head a few miles north to Downtown Las Vegas where you can take in a lightshow, glide on a scenic zip line or visit galleries and museums covering anything from mobs to neon lights. While here, check out Vegas’ oldest casino (Golden Nugget) with its massive shark tank and waterslide. Plenty of tour companies also offer hotel pick-ups for daytrips to Hoover Dam or Grand Canyon. Harry Reid International Airport is just 3.3 miles away, meaning you could be here within ten minutes.

Rooms are mostly colourful, with comfy beds and minimal furniture, although some could do with a refresh. The rooms have what a busy visitor needs – there’s no coffee maker or clock, but do expect mini-fridges, two charging ports and a TV. King suites offer a living area and separate bedroom, while the Penthouse offers a bar and kitchenette, Bose speakers and large walk-in rain shower. Poolside cabana rooms come with private patio and deluxe walk-in rain showers.

On site, you’ll find a comedy club and 35-lane bowling alley, while its Brooklyn Bowl tacks touring bands and comfort food onto your evening. The casino offers more than 35 table games and 675 plus slot machines, while the gamers’ area features virtual reality and holograms. For night owls turn skylarks, there is a nightclub.

If you want downtime, you’ll find some zen in its treatment rooms and Himalayan salt cave. For a bit of pampering, treat yourself to a cut and colour at the on-site hair salon.

Outside, its over-21’s pool has its own snack and poolside bar offering Polynesian cocktails, a hot tub, complimentary towels and more. You can access the gym from the hotel too, but it’s a bit of a walk. It’s equipped with cardio machines and free weights, plus stability balls and stretch bands.

Dining information

Step out of the hotel and onto LINQ Promenade for 23 options – from sushi to hamburgers, and barbecued food to brick-oven pizzas. Those with a sweet tooth will find doughnuts, Italian gelato and pancakes, too.

A few celebrity chefs have set up shop here: Gordon Ramsey has a branded fish ‘n’ chips takeaway, while TV chef Valastro’s The Boss Café serves casual, Italian American fare. Meanwhile Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar dishes up Bourbon-brown sugar chicken and moreish Korean-style beef nachos.

Have an appetite for more? There is also a chocolate shop, Starbucks, and a Mexican restaurant that offers the most amazing views of the High Roller. A Scottish-themed pub and eatery that plays fiddle to a good sport’s bar vibe, while the Yard House offers beer-lovers more than 160 taps of American craft beers (and hotdogs with plenty of toppings).
