Windsor - A friendly welcome from your guide and driver, then a short drive to celebrated Windsor, home to the royal family for 900 years and official residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world, cloaked forever in intense debate over its purpose. It is the focal point in a landscape filled with prehistoric ceremonial structures, now a World Heritage Site. Optional: purchase an admission ticket and benefit from an audio-guide tour of Stonehenge. You will learn about the spiritual importance of the stones and early legends of King Arthur and Merlin. Stonehenge is closed to visitors on 21 June for Summer Solstice, the tour will drive through but may not be able to stop.
Oxford - This is the city of Dreaming Spires and is home to the worlds most famous university. Its colleges date back to the 13th century, an inspiration to generations of scholars including President Bill Clinton, and the authors J R Tolkein, Lewis Carroll and C S Lewis.
Your Evan Evans guide will take you on a fascinating walking tour to see Christchurch, where Harry Potter was filmed, the Bodleian Library and the Sheldonian Theatre. Stonehenge will be closed to visitors on 20th and 21st June 2017, due to the Summer Solstice. You will visit Avebury instead of Stonehenge. Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire, in southwest England. One of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain, it contains the largest stone circle in Europe.
