Rooms 704, 706 and 709 are handicap-accessible with roll-in showers. Chi, the hotel spa, is a spectacularly serene Asia-inspired sanctuary, with a mesmerising water wall. Each of the six massage suites has its own fireplace, relaxation lounge, shower and soaking tub. Canadian cool: some of Vancouver's most stylish dine here regularly, so feel free to dress it up a bit.
Mr and Mrs Smith reviews
Every hotel is visited personally by members of our team and given the Smith seal of approval. As soon as our anonymous reviewers have returned from this boutique hotel in Vancouver and unpacked their ski boots and rafting gear, a full account of their British Columbia city escape will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver…
Business on the outside, the gleaming metropolis high-rise of the Shangri-La Vancouver hotel is more about pleasure inside. The Asian-influenced hotel specialises in high-tech convenience, all with perfect views of Vancouver’s harbour and the far-off mountains.
When not twirling your briefcase, spend the day splashing in the black-tiled pool or succumbing to a balancing treatment in one of Chi's fireplace-warmed treatment rooms on grey winter days.
On the culinary front, the hotel also gets down to business, serving the very best of local fish and produce at Market by Jean-Georges, and a lavish afternoon tea in the lounge.
It's all the better to fortify for adventures around British Columbia, once work is done. After all, the hotel is only a quick jaunt from sprawling Stanley Park, the Harbour and a thousand other British Columbian adventures.

Market by Jean-Georges is run by Wayne Harris, right-hand chef to three-starred Michelin superchef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. A gold-and-cream confection of a space, the restaurant has a golden dome with a milky white-glass chandelier; nooks of leather banquettes and a long stretch of tables beside the city-facing windows. The menu focuses on seasonal ingredients, with a focus on British Columbia's excellent seafood. In season, try the steelhead sashimi; the black-truffle pizza is excellent to share.
The white booths feel the most elegant and private, though they also offer the ideal vantage point for checking out the dining room. In warm weather, the terrace is best.
Market is open all day, from 7am until 10.30pm. Xi Shi Lounge is open from 11.30am until 10.30 pm; Ginger Juice Bar serves between 6am and 10pm.
A full menu from Market – including kids' options – is available 24 hours a day.
Xi Shi Lounge serves afternoon tea, as well as innovative cocktails, with classical piano music on weekend evenings. The kitchen, run by the Market team, serves small bites throughout the day. Ginger Juice Bar, by the pool, blends healthy smoothies and serves light snacks.
