Earning a Companion Voucher

  1. You can only receive a Companion Voucher if you are a member of the British Airways Executive Club and are the main account holder within a British Airways American Express Credit Card account (a “Member”).
  2. Holders of supplementary (additional) cards to the main account holder’s British Airways American Express Credit Card account are not eligible to receive a Companion Voucher. Any amount spent on any supplementary Credit card(s) will count towards the main account holders  spend target.
  3. To be entitled to receive a Companion Voucher the Member must have reached their required spend target within a 12 month period ending each year on the anniversary of their account start date (e.g. If a customer opens a Credit Card account on 20 June 09 then they must have reached their spend target by 19 June 2010 so that they can begin earning towards their next voucher on 20 June 2010). The spend target varies depending on which British Airways American Express Credit Card the Member has:
    Classic - £20,000
    Premium - £15,000
    Premium Plus - £10,000
    Please note that qualifying spend does not include Cash Withdrawals, Interest, Balance Transfers and Fees.
  4. Only one Companion Voucher can be earned in any 12 month period. If the Member reaches their spend target within 12 months of their account start date then further spend will not accumulate  towards another companion voucher. Members can begin earning towards their next Companion Voucher after their 12 month anniversary date.
  5. When the Member has reached their spend target an e-voucher (“Companion Voucher”) will be added to their British Airways Executive Club account.  The Companion Voucher will be valid from the date on which it appears on the Member’s Executive Club account and will be valid for:
    Classic – 12 Months
    Premium – 12 Months
    Premium Plus – 24 Months

  6. The Companion Voucher allows the main British Airways American Express account holder, when making a flight booking using Avios, to book another seat on the journey for a Companion without having to pay the Avios flight price for that Companion.
  7. The Companion Voucher will be issued in the name of the main British Airways American Express Credit card account holder, who must travel on any Companion Voucher booking.
  8. Only one Companion Voucher can be redeemed at any one time.

  9. The Companion Voucher allows the main British Airways American Express account holder, when making a flight booking using Avios, to book another seat on the journey for a Companion without having to pay the Avios flight price for that Companion.
  10. The Companion Voucher will be issued in the name of the main British Airways American Express account holder , who must travel on any Companion Voucher booking.
  11. Companion Vouchers may only be used for bookings subject to availability and British Airways offers no guarantee that Members will be able to book for a Companion on any specific flight.
  12. If the Member has two valid Companion Vouchers on their account they have the option to redeem both of them together for one flight booking allowing the Member to travel with 3 companions and pay the Avios flight price for only 2 people travelling on the booking.
  13. The main British Airways American Express account holder must travel on any Companion Voucher booking.
  14. A maximum of two Companion Vouchers can be redeemed at any one time.

  15. The Member is responsible for paying any Taxes, Fees & Charges relating to their Companion Voucher booking. All Taxes, Fees & Charges must be paid for using the Member’s British Airways American Express Credit Card.
  16. Companion Vouchers can be used for travel on any route in any cabin class as long as the Member has sufficient Avios to complete the booking for their desired journey.
  17. Avios and Companion Vouchers can only be used on British Airways mainline flights, where ‘BA’ is specified at the beginning of the flight number (e.g. BA1324). Companion Vouchers cannot be redeemed for travel on BA’s franchisees, code share partners or oneworld alliance members.
  18. The Member and their Companions must travel together at all times therefore must be booked onto the same flight and cabin class when travelling using a Companion Voucher.
  19. Bookings for Companions must be made at the same time as the Member makes their booking.
  20. Members can choose to take anyone as a Companion on their Companion Voucher booking except if the member is part of a Household Account. In such an instance, the companion must also belong to the Household Account.
  21. All Companion Voucher bookings must originate and return to the UK.
  22. Outbound travel must take place before the expiry date on the Companion Voucher however inbound travel can take place after the expiry date of the Companion Voucher.
  23. Companion Vouchers are non extendable and non transferable.
  24. Once travel using the Companion Voucher has been booked no name changes are allowed.
  25. If travel using a Companion Voucher is cancelled within 24 hours of travel then the Companion Voucher will not be re-issued to the Member’s Executive Club account.
  26. If travel using a Companion Voucher is cancelled more than 24 hours before departure then the Companion Voucher will be re-issued to the Member’s Executive Club account for the remainder of its original validity period which is 12 months from the date of issue for Classic and Premium Cardmembers, and 24 months from date of issue for Premium Plus Cardmembers.
  27. The terms and conditions of this promotion may be changed by British Airways at any time, on giving Members 3 months notice. Any changes will not affect the validity of any Companion Vouchers which have already been issued.
  28. Members must remain eligible for this promotion at the time of travel.  BA and Amex reserve the right to refuse to issue or honour any Companion Voucher in the event that the Member is in breach of the terms of the British Airways American Express Card or the BA Executive Club Membership.
  29. Companion Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion, including Priority Reward (Gold Executive Club membership benefit). For more information on Priority Reward please visit ba.com.

  31. Members and their Companion(s) will be carried by British Airways in accordance with its notice and Conditions of Contract (as stated on each ticket) and its general conditions of carriage for passengers and baggage (copies available on request).
