Frequently asked questions
What does this flexible change policy cover?
Customers can cancel their itinerary and utilize their ticket value toward a new fare, less any applicable change fees and difference in fare.
Prior to this policy change, customers had to change their itinerary and reissue their ticket before their ticketed departure.
Does the policy apply to British Airways flights issued by other carriers?
This policy only applies to tickets issued on British Airways (125) carrier paper. Other carrier issued tickets may have different fare rules.
Iberia fare rules also reflect a different policy, regardless if British Airways is the operating carrier.
Once a change is made, when must the ticket be reissued?
Once a booking has been updated with a new flight, tickets must be reissued at the same time (ie same calendar day). This applies to bookings when the original PNR has been changed or a new PNR has been created. Please contact your GDS helpdesk for full Terms and Conditions of the original fare.
If flights are part-flown, will the policy apply?
If the journey has commenced, the policy still applies to the return sector as long as the segment is cancelled prior to the ticketed flight. The segment should be rebooked and reissued (less the change penalty) within the original validity of the ticket.
What if the new ticket value is less than the new fare?
Residual value or credit will not be issued (non-refundable tickets). The penalty will still collected at the time of reissue.
What happens if a customer no-shows?
The coupon status for a non-show customer and all subsequent coupons will change to 'Y.' This status will prevent any further use of the ticket. Only refundable taxes will be refunded.
Does this policy apply to restrictive fares originating from other markets?
This policy only applies to fares originating in the USA and Canada.
