Flights to Texas

Everything’s bigger in Texas, as the saying goes, so give yourself plenty of time to explore this sprawling state. Texans lay claim to a host of sights on the “world’s biggest” list, including the world’s tallest cowboy and the world’s largest cowboy boots. That should prepare you for Texas’ charm – its blend of desert-covered backcountry and vibrant cities all come complete with Stetsons and pickup trucks.

Texas flight FAQs

A direct flight from London to Texas takes around 10 hours, though your journey may be slightly longer depending on the airport you’re flying into.

British Airways flies from London Heathrow to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Temperatures are scorching in Texas in the summer, so March and October tend to draw the most crowds thanks to a mix of pleasant weather, festivals and seasonal activites. Our low fare finder will help you find the cheapest time of year to visit, but search for flights outside of these busy months to see if you can save.

The best time to visit Texas depends on what you want to do on your trip. The state’s huge size means that the weather can vary depending on the region you’re in, with spots like the Guadalupe Mountains in West Texas and the Houston coastline feeling cooler than the cities. You might want to visit Austin to check out the music festivals in the spring and slip on your hiking boots and swimming costume in the summer.

Whatever your budget, you can have fun in Texas. Austin calls itself the Live Music Capital of the World and it’s a great place to enjoy gigs that range from pricier arena shows to bars where you only need to pay for your drinks. If you’re in Dallas, check out the many free or cheap-to-visit museums across the city, including the Dallas Museum of Art and the Latino Cultural Centre. The Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston is an outdoor theatre that offers free shows, and you’ll find farmers’ markets across the state where you can gather ingredients for some home-cooked meals.

There’s so much to see and do in Texas. Your biggest challenge will be fitting it all in – you can escape the summer heat with a trip to Houston’s beaches, ride horses on country trails or visit the famous site of JFK’s assassination. Just make sure to give yourself plenty of time to explore so you don’t miss any of the highlights.
