Located in the quiet area of Kato Gouves, Grecotel Amirandes boasts a peaceful setting with palm-fringed stone walkways and gardens outlined by sprawling lagoons, just over 11 mile’s distance from Heraklion Airport. The hustle and bustle of Heraklion’s centre and the iconic Minoan Palace of Knossos are around 14 miles away. You can also visit the closest developed town of Hersonissos, which is under five miles away – or tee off at the Crete Golf Course, which lies about ten miles away from the resort.
The elegant accommodation exudes an earthy vibe, decorated with neutral tones. Standard features include flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea and coffee facilities and furnished outdoor spaces with garden or sea views. A selection of dining options are available at Grecotel Amirandes, with exceptional restaurants and bars offering flavours from around the world. Amirandes restaurant serves an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. Minotaur restaurant is an a la carte affair boasting spectacular lagoon-views and a fixed menu of modern Italian dishes. It’s here that you can admire original ceramics by the Picasso. For alfresco dining and a contemporary twist on East Asian cuisine, try Blue Monkey. Head to Xasreria for local Cretan food which is made with organic ingredients or enjoy a light lunch at Petrino, the resort’s alfresco, speciality seafood restaurant. For a candlelit meal by the waterfront, don’t miss Lago di Candia, a special grill restaurant which appears to be floating on the water. But ensure you make restaurant reservations to avoid disappointment.
There are plenty bars and lounges to enjoy fresh cocktails, low-key entertainment and dazzling sunsets. The Sunset Lounge offers an exclusive beachfront setting with calming sea views. Throughout the day, take advantage of By the Pool Brasserie, which is situated by the main pool, and enjoy live jazz music in evenings at the sophisticated Lagoon Bar.
As part of ‘The Dine Club’ concept, you can enjoy lunch at the main buffet restaurant (or at a choice of a la carte restaurants with a credit allowance). You’ll also receive two complimentary a la carte dinners in select restaurants at participating hotels, or one complimentary a la carte dinner in select restaurants at participating hotels plus one free a la carte dinner in Agreco Farms per seven night’s stay. Another key perk of ‘The Dine Club’ is that kids under the age of 12 dine for free and can eat whenever they feel like it. This includes all-day snacks at Grecoland, lunch at the tasty corner and a la carte dining in designated restaurants with unique kids’ menus, including juices and refreshments.
