Flights to Bodrum

A little over half a century ago, Bodrum was just a small fishing village tucked alongside a sleepy stretch of Turkey’s south-west coast. Now, visitors flock to stay in the luxury hotels and chic marinas in both the Old Town and its surrounding resorts. Since the 1960s, Bodrum has attracted artists and writers, all inspired by the impressive coastal views, centuries of history and the laid-back vibe that still exists to this day. The region offers up a snapshot of the ancient world, alongside beautiful beaches and some of the Mediterranean's best diving sites.

Turkey’s stylish peninsula city

Fly to Bodrum with British Airways start with the Castle of St Peter, a 15th-century landmark perched on the tip of the peninsula.

It’s an ever-present symbol of the city’s historical importance, and home to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, which features a collection of artefacts retrieved from shipwrecks around the coast. For another glimpse of the city’s ancient past sitting side-by-side with its glamourous present, take a boat trip to the uninhabited island of Orak.

Swim and snorkel in a secluded cove and look out for turtles before making your way back to Bodrum and enjoying panoramic views as you sail back to the peninsula’s glittering marina. Spend a morning wandering through the maze of alleys that make up Bodrum’s old town or take an evening stroll through the night bazaars where you can haggle for souvenirs. Bodrum flight FAQs

A flight from London to Milas-Bodrum Airport takes approximately four hours.

While July and August are typically the most popular times to travel to Bodrum, warm weather in May and October make the spring and autumn months an ideal time to visit.

Most of the city’s hotels open for the summer in May, and accommodation is likely to be cheaper at this time of year than during the height of summer.

There are several large annual festivals held in the city too, which may impact the price of accommodation, so it’s worth checking when planning your trip. Use our low fare finder to find the cheapest time to visit Bodrum.

While Bodrum attracts a wealthy crowd to its boutique bars, fashionable restaurants and exclusive resorts, particularly in Yalikavak and Turkbuku, it’s also a great city to visit for those on a budget. Well-priced accommodation can be found in the Gumbet district, which is also close to great nightlife.

Head to one of Bodrum’s bazaars to pick up tasty treats for a picnic on the beach. The Saturday market at Turgutreis is one of the best places to find fresh produce and well-priced souvenirs at the same time. Vendors will be expecting to barter, so be patient and persevere if you’re after a bargain.

Milas-Bodrum airport is around 35km from Bodrum’s city centre, and the Havas shuttle bus service takes around 45 minutes. Visitors can also take a taxi from the airport terminal.

While the old town is easy to walk around, you’ll need to use local taxis or the Dolmus minibus service to travel further afield and reach other resorts around the peninsula. It’s the cheapest way to get around, and you can pay when boarding.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to see more of what Bodrum and the surrounding area has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

Bodrum is affectionately known as ‘Little Istanbul’ thanks to its rich cultural offering, vibrant nightlife and wealth of attractions. It’s also a gateway to some of the best spots along the Turkish Riviera. Venture two hours out of the city to Koycegiz Lake for a tour of the Dalyan River and to enjoy a mineral-rich mud bath and paddle in the thermal pools. If you like to swim, more than 20 dive sites just off the coast Bodrum offer the chance to discover shipwrecks and a sunken propeller plane, or head out of town to the village of Karnas for wine-tasting at a family-owned boutique winery. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, explore Bodrum’s surrounding beauty spots on horseback with a guided tour through forests, orange groves and wild rivers, or ride a camel along the shore at Camel Beach.
