In 1890, investigative journalist Nellie Bly raced alone through a ‘man’s world’ to beat Phileas Fogg’s fictional record in Around the World in 80 Days. She managed it in 72 days, covering 21,740 miles by ocean liner and train. Some 125 years later, adventurer and author Rosemary J Brown retraced Bly’s footsteps in an expedition registered with the Royal Geographical Society.
