Flying to Islamabad in summer
July to August is monsoon season
Islamabad has five seasons, including a summer monsoon
Islamabad’s summer weather is characterised by hot and dry May and June, followed by rainy monsoon season from July to August. Islamabad has a subtropical climate, and during its hottest month, June, temperatures soar to an average high of 38°C. During the humid monsoon season, you’ll soon realise why the surrounding area is so green: expect rain and thunderstorms, with August being the wettest month.
Outside of monsoon season, Islamabad has low rainfall.
Islamabad is cooler in winter
From October, Islamabad’s weather is cooler, but rarely cold. January is the coolest month of the year, with an average daily temperature of 10°C and daily highs of 18°C. There’s rarely snow in the city, but you might see a dusting of snow on the Margalla hills. It’s common to see fog settle over the city in winter, where it clings atmospherically to the surrounding hillside.
