The Metropole Hotel itself makes a wonderful first impression. First opened in 1889, this Belle Epoque property famously enjoyed an extensive makeover by renowned designer Jacques Garcia in 2004. Its set down a driveway in a private, peaceful garden. The interiors, with towering floral displays, scroll-armed sofas, tapestries on the walls and Carerra marble in the en-suite bathrooms, are beyond luxurious – but the renovations mean the hotel is filled with natural light, too.
