Best for a one-night stopover: Rembrandt

The lowdown... Set in a converted Edwardian building, this hotel fits in well with its stately Knightsbridge neighbours. It’s a quiet, comfortable four star with an adjoining health club; use of these facilities is payable locally. The hotel also has a restaurant and free WiFi, but if you’re only here for one-night, you’ll want to maximise your time outside of the hotel.

Since your London time is limited, where you stay really is all about location, location, location. The Rembrandt is near South Kensington tube, so you can get the Piccadilly line straight to and from the Heathrow terminals. You can also take the line in the opposite direction to arrive at Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and Leicester Square in minutes. Plus, there’s even more on your doorstep: the V&A Museum is just opposite and Harrods is within walking distance.

Every room at the Rembrandt comes with a smartphone preloaded with 4G data, maps and free calls to select destinations. Book that show, plan that bus route, and call home to tell everyone just how well your whistle-stop tour is going.
