You can fly direct to Malta from London with British Airways and touch down near historic Valletta in just over three hours. When you arrive, look out for crumbling ruins, a gilded cathedral, and an old town surrounded by towering sand-coloured walls. You might even recognise a location or two from your favourite TV shows and films. When you've explored the island’s easy-to-walk capital, there’s more history to be discovered on nearby Gozo. We recommend hopping on a ferry for a short ride to Malta’s little sister at least once during your holiday.

Malta is very affordable, particularly if you visit in the low season. It’s easy to get around as it’s so small, but keep in mind that the capital city of Valletta is tiny so accommodation in the summer months may cost more due to demand.
Once you arrive at Malta International Airport (MLA), the main resorts on the island aren’t far away. Dedicated bus services run directly to and from the airport and an official shuttle service will get you to hotels across the island. Taxis and car hire are also available at the terminal.
