Based on the banks of the Bosphorus, the decadent Six Senses Kocatas Mansions enjoys the exclusivity of a well-heeled neighbourhood, yet sits within reach of Istanbul city. Inhabiting two restored 19th-century Ottoman-era mansions, it delights with Belle Epoque design, service-rich luxuries and jaw-dropping views. Spot plush rugs, studded furnishings, and a double staircase that welcomes a grand entrance. In the lobby, gilt framed paintings adorn the walls, and crystal chandeliers drip from a ceiling edged with decorative mouldings. Devour culinary art in the restaurants, cleanse in the Six Senses Spa, and sip a Turkish coffee on a terrace admiring the calming Bosphorus views.
The hotel is situated in the Sariyer district of Istanbul. Esteemed public figures, past and present, have lived within this prestigious neighbourhood, including the former Minister of Justice Necmettin Molla Kocatas, the hotel's namesake. A walk along the waterfront will take you to many restaurants, fashionable shops and chic bars. It’s situated on the European side of Istanbul, around 15 miles from the centre and its main attractions. You can get there by taxi or via buses and metro – there’s a bus stop 100 metres from the hotel. Istanbul airport is approximately 24 miles west.
The hotel is sprawled across gardens which climb upwards from the Bosphorus. Rooms are located in the two mansions, while the spa and some facilities sit to the rear of the gardens – so expect some hills. Please also note, that Skyloft rooms are not accessible by lift, only stairs. The rooms design subtly nods to the Ottoman era, think Pastel coloured walls, palatial valance curtains hug and lofty ceilings. Standard amenities include a TV, in-room tablets, free Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speakers and Nespresso coffee machines. Bathrooms are tiled in marble and come with either a shower, or a shower and a bath. There’s a choice of delightful garden and courtyard views, although a Bosphorus facing room certainly elevates the experience.

Altri servizi
Positioned at the furthest point of the gardens, and in a 100-year-old stone house, the spa feels like a hidden retreat. There’s a relaxation area, treatment rooms and wet facilities – including a pool, sauna and steam room. The anti-ageing therapy is a popular treatment, as is the cleansing Turkish Hammam. You’ll also find a gym, studio and Alchemy Bar.
There’s a courtyard pool situated by the mansions, and a walk up through the gardens will take you to the gorgeous infinity pool – well worth the climb for the sensational views. Elsewhere, you’ll find Earth Lab, a venue hosting cooking lessons, workshops and lessons in sustainable living. It’s here where children can discover fun activities and games. You can also take private boat trips to points of interest along the Bosphorus for a fee.
Informazioni per la cena
You’ll discover upmarket dining here. Chef Erdal Kocatas Mansions elevates Turkish cuisine with mesmerizing mezes, succulent kebabs and Anatolian flavours – all made with seasonal and locally sourced produce. Seafood, steak entrees and craft cocktails are on the menu at SAX Turkiye, as are live entertainment and DJ performances. Facing the Bosphorus, Toro Latin Gastrobar & Restaurant concocts fusions of Pan-Latin and Asian cuisine – expect Peruvian-inspired sushi, charcoal grilled meats and an array of small tasting plates. There’s also the Italian restaurant Scalini Istanbul, and Kocatas Patisserie for more casual meals and snacks.
The most popular spot has to be 1860 Lounge. Situated above the hotel, this delightful venue commands Bosphorus views, garden views and spectacular sunsets – to be enjoyed with a Turkish coffee or crafted cocktail and good company.
