When it comes to things to do in NYC, you will be blown away by the amount on offer. The choice is staggering. You can eat pretty much any cuisine in the world, go clubbing with the in-crowd and absorb culture through every pore.

The rooftop bars and cafés here are fantastic, enjoy cocktails listening to jazz, or drink steaming cups of coffee while a poet recites new work. Shop for designer labels at the plethora of shops, or peruse Picassos and Gaugins at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Take a stroll over the illustrious Brooklyn Bridge, and browse for bargains at flea markets in Williamsburg. So get ready to take it all in with flights to New York.

The most famous of all is Central Park which contains a lake, zoo, castle and museum. During the summer months visitors can also enjoy the Central Park SummerStage which offers free and paid shows of music, theatre and dance.

New York is famous for its nightlife, from live jazz clubs and comedy circuits to legendary music venues like the Apollo Theatre. Make your way to the Lower East Side for buzzing bars, or head to Meatpacking District for exclusive nightclubs. Don’t forget to venture over to Brooklyn, as this is the hippest place to be seen on nights out.

In New York “shop ‘til you drop” takes on a whole new meaning. Visit flagship stores like Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, find designer labels on Fifth Avenue and see stunning jewellery at iconic Tiffany & Co. Make the journey to Make the journey to the Meatpacking District and Soho for haute couture fashions. Or journey to Brooklyn for superb flea markets. You can even ask your hotel’s concierge about personal shoppers.

New York’s galleries are renowned around the world, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim being two of the best. MoMA and the Whitney are equally fascinating. Secret New York

Stylish and sophisticated, New York is full of great bars and trendsetting night spots. The secret(ish) speakeasy PDT (Please Don’t Tell) is accessed through a hot dog restaurant’s faux-telephone booth. The Maison Premiere in Brooklyn serves absinthe and oysters, surprisingly a match made in heaven. And don’t miss out on a visit to The Dead Rabbit – an Irish bar par excellence.

If the New York streets are becoming a bit claustrophobic, then a trip to the Hamptons may be the remedy. In just one and a half hours, either by train or by car, you can be sat on sandy Ponquogue Beach supping a cold beer. The Hamptons is known for its surfing, hiking and fantastic seafood restaurants – especially the local clam chowder – perfect for a relaxing break away from the bustling city.
