Discover the Red City
Nicknamed the Red City for the towering red walls that frame its ancient old town, Marrakech has centuries of history and culture to be discovered. The beating heart of this time-stamped metropolis is in the medina, where traders sell everything from food to traditional lanterns in the markets. Known locally as the souks, you can spend an entire afternoon browsing in the winding alleyways, shaded from the heat of the North African sun.
Fly to Marrakech with British Airways and find the perfect souvenir to take home. Next visit Jemaa el-Fna, the city's main square. Musicians, fortune tellers and entertainers perform here throughout the day and evening. Then pair a stroll around the Majorelle Gardens with a trip to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, which is right next door. If you’re interested in Islamic architecture, the Ben Youssef Madrasa is an excellent example, dating back to the 1500s. Make sure to visit Bahia Palace too – it’s one of the city’s most famous buildings. Book your holiday to Marrakech today.
