A flyer’s guide: Ibiza flight tips

Everything you need to know about flying to Ibiza with British Airways

When’s the cheapest time to fly to Ibiza?

Generally, the cheapest time to fly to Ibiza is between November and April. During the low season, some restaurants and clubs shut down, leaving visitors to experience the authentic local lifestyle. Flights are cheaper during these cooler winter months, while flight prices rise during the shoulder seasons and even more during the busy high season when all the parties take place.

How long is the flight from London to Ibiza?

The flight from London to Ibiza takes 2 hours and 20 minutes. British Airways provides several direct flights from London to Ibiza, so you can fly from London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW) or London City (LCY) to arrive in Ibiza (IBZ).

How do I get from the Ibiza airport to my resort?

Ibiza’s airport lies just five miles from Ibiza Town and is connected to it by a regular bus service, which costs about €3.50 per journey. Buses run between the island’s major towns, such as San Antonio and Santa Eulalia. However, Ibiza’s small size means that taxis are relatively affordable even for longer distances across the island. Expect to pay only €15-30 for most journeys – but be warned, queues during the summer months can be quite long. Alternatively, hire a car to drive to your hotel and enjoy the island in your own time.

Do I need a visa to travel to Ibiza?

If you are travelling on a European Union passport then you currently do not need a visa to visit Ibiza. Ibiza is recognised as Spanish territory, and therefore travel restrictions are the same as they are on mainland Spain.

Ibiza tips

Our Ibiza hints and tips will have you feeling like a local in no time.

Quando dare la mancia

In Ibiza tipping is not mandatory; but because tourists frequent the area, tipping is often expected for good service. When you dine in a restaurant, a 10% tip will suffice. For drinks at the bar, simply round up the price. Include tips for taxi drivers, your hotel cleaners and additional hotel staff in your budget.

Attrazioni gratuite

There is always a beach to enjoy in Ibiza. Swimming and sandy beach strolls aside, you can also make your way to the old Ibiza Town. Here you can wander through the narrow, cobbled streets and admire the medieval architecture without spending a cent.

Weather in Ibiza

Ibiza’s summer lasts from May until October. The weather is warmest from June – September, and highs peak over 30°C in July and August. You will want to pack a light jacket in May, June and September. Come winter (November to April), the average daytime temperature sits at 15°C, although it can climb to 25°C.

Search for traditional Ibizan foods. Sobrasada is a starter made from minced pork, mixed with paprika and other seasoning, and it’s generally served on fresh bread. Meat lovers will enjoy Sofrit Pages, a dish that combines lamb, chicken, pork, potatoes and the aforementioned sobrasada.
