The hotel offers an impressive range of facilities and families couldn’t be more welcome. The kids’ club (for 4- to 12-year-olds) offers a packed plan of activities including adventures into the surrounding sacred Mayan jungle accompanied by friendly animal mascots, arts, crafts and games, while the RU Ready fitness club provides physical activities, training and friendship-building programmes aimed at 7- to 17-year-olds. In addition, babysitting and child-friendly dining is available.

The Willow Spa is sensational, situated in the heart of the tropical jungle, surrounded by natural lagoons. The spa features a beautiful Mexican garden, outdoor Swiss showers and whirlpools plus a rooftop vitality pool and sea-mineral soaking pool with a waterfall. Local herbs, essential oils and extracts are used during body and facial treatments, as well as locally inspired experiences which include a Cha Chac Rain ritual and Mayan Bath ritual (among others).

Golf enthusiasts could be better placed as the resort manages the neighbouring 18-hole El Camaleon golf course, designed by legendary Australian golfer Greg Norman. It’s a stunning par 72 championship course for all abilities, offering a view that constantly changes (as the name suggests) as you wind your way through tropical jungle, mangrove wetlands and the Riviera Maya coastline.

As for water sports, you’ve got plenty to choose from including kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkelling plus you have access to complimentary guided catamaran tours. The beach itself beautiful and consists of a long, sweeping crescent of soft, white sand, lapped by the turquoise Caribbean Sea. There’s a plentiful supply of sun loungers under fringed parasols, providing a perfect spot for relaxing with a chilled drink.

In partnership with world-renowned chef Richard Sandoval, La Laguna is located in the pool area on its own island, surrounded by the waters of Mayakoba Lagoon. The restaurant serves a la carte and buffet breakfast, a la carte lunch and dinner, all in a casual family ambiance. The menu is inspired by Latino-Mexican cuisine and there are always light and healthy options available. Live local music accompanies dinner most evenings. Las Brisas Terrace is located on the terrace of Las Brisas Restaurant, overlooking the Fairmont Mayakoba's sandy beach. The lunch and snack menu features light fare, including quesadillas or burger-on-the-beach with fruit-infused Sangria, served oceanside. You can also enjoy a tangy margarita or a superb glass of Mexican wine. Las Brisas Restaurant and Lounge Bar is the premier fine dining experience in the Mayan Riviera, located on the beachfront. It offers an intimate (dinner only) setting, complete with silver service and fine crystal. The menu features global contemporary cuisine. A reservation is required. For the taste of the Caribbean, head to El Puerto Restaurant, located in the main lobby, overlooking the lagoon harbour. Authentic local fare is served during the day and a myriad of fresh Caribbean seafood including fresh Caribbean lobster, shellfish platters, live clams and oysters, crab legs, giant shrimps and daily catch delicacies. Chicken, beef and vegetable entrees are also available. Open for dinner from Tuesday to Sunday where a reservation is required. Las Olas and Aqua Bar Pool Bars is an adult-only water lounge located on the Island water park while the Lobby Lounge menu features small plates and appetisers with a distinct Latin-Asian influence. An expanded covered terrace overlooking the resort’s internal waterways is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the new innovative cocktail program and listen to nightly live entertainment.

The resort fee includes three hours per day of supervised kids' club (9:00 to 12:00pm or 17:00pm to 20:00) for children aged between 5 to 12 years, an on-property bird watching boat tour and use of BMW bicycles to explore the property. Access to the fitness centre, tennis and paddle courts and use of rackets and balls are also included as is 24-hour transportation and transfers to other resorts inside Mayakoba, El Pueblito at Mayakoba and to the golf course El Camaleon.
