Check into any of these stylish LA hotels and you’ll have no need to head out for breakfast, lunch or dinner, says food writer Krista Simmons.

Ace Hotel Downtown LA for Best Girl

No matter the location, the Ace brand always taps into the zeitgeist, so it’s fitting that the city’s best be cooking at their ultra-hip Downtown LA location. For this restaurant, chef Michael Cimarusti departs from his typical seafood-focussed fare to create an expanded, California-inspired menu. But not to worry, you can still find excellent crudos, crab cakes, and of course oysters on the half shell.

Best bite: The frisée au sable salad serves up smoked black cod, and poached egg, in a mustard vinaigrette.

Dream Hollywood for Highlight Room

Angelenos are famous for loving a rooftop hang, and the Highlight Room delivers just that. On the weekend, DJs spin EDM and hip hop to a well-heeled crowd, while weekdays bring a more relaxed tribe looking to enjoy the cocktails, and of course the stellar views of the city.

Best bite: While the food is fantastic – think crudo of yellowtail, grapefruit, white ponzu, and Fresno chilli – this is really the place for sampling the strong stuff in a martini glass.

Served with a little sphere of clarified ice in a stemless wine glass, it's a gorgeous drink to look at, and the aromatics are second to none.

The Beverly Hills Hotel for the Polo Lounge

The iconic Polo Lounge is a must see at the ‘Pink Palace’, as its known. The lobster cobb salad is one of the best in the city, especially when paired with an Aperol spritz, but really you’re coming for the unparalleled people watching and to soak up some of the historic Hollywood glam.

Best bite: Go for the iconic smoked salmon for brunch on a Sunday, you’ll be serenaded with jazz as you eat.

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills for JGV

Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's first West Coast restaurant serves a wide array of crowd pleasers in an opulent setting – from caviar to pizza, crab cakes to angel hair pasta with tomato sauce. Steve Benjamin, previously of award-winning L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas, is the executive chef, offering a pedigree to the hotly anticipated Beverly Hills kitchen.

Best bite: For dinner try the Parmesan-crusted organic chicken with artichokes, basil and lemon butter.

  • Start as you mean to go on, with a delicious breakfast at Georgie, Montage Beverly Hills.

SLS Hotel Beverly Hills for The Bazaar

Jose Andrés and his team over at the Bazaar create whimsical takes on Spanish tapas at the Beverly Hills restaurant, along with the appropriately named Ultimate Gin and Tonic (one of the best renditions I’ve had the world round). Served with a little sphere of clarified ice in a stemless wine glass, it's a gorgeous drink to look at, and the aromatics are second to none.

Best bite: Pair the papas Canarias (salty wrinkled potatoes, with two mojo sauces) with seared Wagyu beef cheeks, black garlic, cherries, and black olive.

Montage Beverly Hills for Georgie

There are few destinations better for a power breakfast than Georgie at the Montage. Situated right next to some of Hollywood’s top agencies, this is a notorious spot for cutting deals, and great eats.

Best bite: Sit on the patio, and don’t skip on ordering the Middle Eastern breakfast, a take on shakshouka made with two baked farm eggs, labne, cucumber, and pita.
