Visit Olympiapark, home of the 1972 Olympics. Get a great perspective of Munich on a roof climb, or from the top of the Olympiaturm tower. Admire the neo-gothic building that houses the New Town Hall, or Neus Rathaus, in Marienplatz. Then see the third incarnation of its predecessor Altes Rathaus, which is now a toy museum.

Tantalise your taste buds as you explore Munich’s exciting dining scene. Fraunhofer is a wonderful city centre brewpub that serves a great selection of southern German favourites. It also has a tiny theatre at the back. Enjoy Bavarian-Japanese fusion at No Mi Ya, Greek specialties at Restaurant Piatsa and Tex Mex at Joe Pena’s.

Founded in 1824, Augustinekeller is still a popular Munich beer garden and one of the few buildings to have survived the WWII bombings. Absorb the authentic atmosphere and admire the beautiful grounds over an Augustiner beer. Hit the nightclubs of Kultfabrik or sip cocktails in Mr Mumble’s New Orleans Bar in Klenzestrasse.
