Inspired by the palaces of the Arabian Peninsula, the property is patterned with Arabesque arches which are illuminated after dark. Inside, the Waldorf Astoria signature clock is the grand lobby’s centrepiece, pointing up to a golden glass domed ceiling. Accommodation is generous in size, and décor is as luxurious as the lobby’s – pastel tones of blue and blush are complemented by gold hardware. Qasr al Bahar is the resort’s primary restaurant, where you’ll find international cuisine in interactive kitchens at breakfast and dinnertime. Referencing New York City’s Lexington Avenue with signature cocktails including the Manhattan, Cosmopolitan and Long Island Iced Tea, Lexington Grill & Bar also has a wine cellar. They serve steak and seafood, plus specialities from the oyster bar. For Japanese cuisine, head to UMI, a trendy restaurant bordered by Japanese gardens, offering sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki dishes. Peacock Alley provides coffees and light bites, and Camelia provides a menu of teas, including five of the world’s most exclusive leaves. Don’t miss the Signature Waldorf Astoria high tea here, either.
