The hotel is home to two landscaped swimming pools, including a family-friendly pool and an adult-only pool with an exclusive bar. You’ll have access to four other pools around the wider resort complex, such as an exciting pirate-themed pool for children and two freeform pools with hot tubs and swim-up bars. Around each pool, you can find sun loungers and hammocks alongside palapa-style umbrellas, as well as complimentary towel service.

You can always hop on a golf cart towards Bavaro Beach, where you’ll be greeted by swaying palm trees and gentle lapping waves. Some sections of the beach are livelier than others, with frequent beachfront Zumba classes, plus volleyball tournaments and water polo games. It’s also here that you can take up an array of non-motorised water sports – such as windsurfing and kayaking – or try motorised water sports for a supplementary charge.

Adults can visit the tranquil Zentropia Spa to indulge in a tempting selection of facials, massages and body treatments for an additional charge. The massage selection includes Swedish, Vichy and couples’ massages – and a specialist sports massage for active guests. The spa also features a pool, whirlpool tub, Turkish bath, sauna and vapor bath. A modern gym connects to the spa, complete with a range of high-tech equipment and a dressing room with lockers.

Other facilities across the complex include a mini-golf course, a football field, four badminton courts, six tennis courts (floodlighting at an extra charge), four paddle courts and six petanque courts. Meanwhile, you can play table tennis or a game of billiards – or practise your aim with archery and darts. In the evening, you can hang out at the casino, enjoy cocktails at one of the many bars or catch a live show at the entertainment theatre.

For younger guests, there’s the exciting Castillo del Pirata Kids Club, where children can delight in endless supervised activities. Built in the style of an old colonial fort, the club features a spacious outdoor area where children can play games or splash in a mini water park. The special theatre puts on a variety of children’s entertainment – ranging from magic shows to sing-along performances – and there’s an arts space and a small dining room. Teenagers are welcome at the Black & White Junior Club, which offers a full programme of age-appropriate activities, in addition to a laidback lounge with video games, computers and table tennis. At the Baby Club, childcare professionals care for little ones between the ages of one and three for a supplementary charge.

The entire Grand Palladium complex features six buffet-style restaurants with show cooking stations and nine a la carte restaurants that span international, Mediterranean, Mexican, Spanish, Asian and Brazilian cuisines. Three of these restaurants are situated in the Grand Palladium Palace Resort, including the stylish main restaurant, Las Torres, which offers buffet spreads with international show cooking and local cuisine. There’s also Sumptuori, where you can savour delightful Japanese dishes cooked on a teppanyaki, or you can treat yourself to exotic Indian cuisine at the atmospheric Bhogali Restaurant.

There’s a fabulous choice of 25 bars within the resort complex. This includes a casual sports bar, multiple swim-up bars and several beach bars. Relish cocktails in the elegant Bar Hemmingway, with interiors inspired by the Great Gatsby, or head elsewhere to indulge in a memorable wine tasting experience for a supplementary charge.
