Is Phuket cheap to visit?

In Phuket you can eat, drink and travel around on a budget – just ask the backpackers who flock to the island for its great value food, hostels and nightlife. The island has also become a haven for those looking for luxury, with five-star resorts and boutique hotels lining the beaches of Layan, Bang Tao and Surin. However, most budgets will go far in Phuket Town, Patong and Kata, where the lively beach bars and restaurants all compete for the tourists’ baht.

Is it easy to get around Phuket?

Once you land in Phuket, there are several transport options available to take you all over the island. Metered taxis are available, as well as minibuses and limousines for larger groups. Airport buses also run from various destinations across the island and a number of international car rental companies operate from the Arrivals terminal.

Why visit Phuket?

Think of Phuket, and near-perfect beaches come to mind. While the crowds flock to Patong Beach, there are still tranquil, lesser-known beaches to explore on the island’s south and east coasts, which offer a more authentic Thai experience. There’s culture and history to discover too, with night markets in the Old Town providing a feast for the senses, as well as being a great place to try out the local specialties. The town’s mix of 18th-century architecture alongside old Buddhist and Chinese temples brings a rich, eclectic feel to the lively streets.

Do I need a visa for Phuket?

Citizens of the UK and Ireland and EU passport holders may require a visa to visit Phuket, depending on how long they stay. You can find out more about visa requirements for all the countries we fly to on our visa information page.
