Closer to home, take in the exotic flora found in the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. Mauritius International Airport is around 36 miles away.
The guest rooms are located in terraced pavilions or as individual luxury villas with private pools, scattered around the gardens. They give you a real feel of space and tranquillity. It is the little things that matter and every detail is well thought out. There are iPod music docks in the rooms and complimentary WiFi around the resort. It's worth noting that if you require an extra bed for a third person it will be a rollaway style bed.

Vegetarian and kid-friendly selections are available, too. Over at On The Rocks, seaside dining steals the show. You can savour sandwiches, salads, pizzas and pastas al fresco, with a kids’ menu also available at lunchtimes. Plus, head back for perfectly grilled seafood and prime cuts served in the evenings. The Gunpowder Room sets a storied scene within its 18th Century walls, and brings classic Creole cuisine to the table – exclusively on Tuesday and Thursday nights. On Saturday and Sunday evenings, The Herb Trail takes you on an al fresco communal dining experience by the light of an underground fire pit.
For sips, the resort’s Main Bar is the perfect spot to catch sunsets from the beachfront bar, with a cocktail, spirit or glass of wine in hand.
If you're staying on Half Board you can choose from the a la carte dinner at the Main Restaurant or On The Rocks (weather permitting) and the set menu at Gunpowder Room. Supplement for food only (three course meal).
