Sitting in the heart of Manhattan’s theatre district lies the ultra-cool Civilian Hotel, whose artistic interiors are filled with one-of-a-kind Broadway-inspired memorabilia. Set close to some of the city’s best sights, it provides an affordable base for exploring with a great range of rooms to suit all – each one boasting fantastic views of the city. Plus you can customise your stay with optional extras, including a TMPL Health Club pass or in-room treats. Downstairs, you’ll find a laid-back restaurant serving up Detroit-style pizzas, a coveted cocktail room and a spectacular Starchild Rooftop Bar, hosting live music during the weekends.
The location of this property is hard to beat. It’s sits one block from the buzz of Times Square and the bright lights of Broadway, with major subway lines on 49th Street that make exploring the wider city easy. The Empire State Building, Bryant Park and shops of Fifth Avenue in Midtown are about half a mile to just over one mile away, so you can explore by foot. Rocket up 70 floors to the observational desk at the Rockefeller Center or head less than a mile west to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), home to the world's greatest collection of modern and contemporary art. You’ll be inundated with dining options on Restaurant Row – situated on 46th Street – otherwise, Hell’s Kitchen is a favourite, pre- and post-theatre. JFK International Airport is 15 miles away and Newark Liberty International Airport is approximately 28 miles from the hotel.
The hotel is housed in a striking 27-storey, red brick building, with several majestic arches that frame the giant globe lanterns hanging within. Inside it’s equally impressive, displaying exposed brickwork that blends seamlessly with Crittall-style doors and windows, echoing the splendour of a bygone art deco era. In central New York, space is at a premium, so compact Cozy rooms start at approximately 16 m2, while Spacious rooms measure around 30 m2. All have a minimalist style, deep colour palette and industrial-inspired finishes. Comfort comes as standard, too, with Serta Plush luxe mattresses dressed in Oeko-Tex certified Egyptian satin cotton linens and non-allergenic pillows. The decoratively designed mosaic tiled bathrooms feature a walk-in shower stocked with Public Goods organic bath products. What’s more, all rooms offer expansive views of Hudson Yards, the Theatre District and the spectacular New York City skyline.

Informations sur la restauration
The hotel truly shines is in its food and drinks scene. Emmy Squared is the go-to spot for delicious Detroit-style pizzas and award-winning burgers, while the second floor Rosevale Cocktail Room offers American and globally inspired meals with an emphasis on small plates and shareable dishes, alongside an extensive cocktail menu created by acclaimed mixologists. Crowd-pleasing small bites include salmon tartare cones, shrimp cocktails and short rib croquettes, complemented by a Rosevale 50/50 martini. Live jazz fills the space every Thursday through to Saturday. For a more intimate experience, set your sights on The Blue Vault, tucked away within the velvet shadows of the Rosevale Cocktail Room.
The Starchild Rooftop Bar is the jewel in the hotel’s crown, set 27 floors above the city. Thanks to its retractable glass ceiling, it’s open year round, making it the perfect destination on both sunny days and chillier nights. It’s an ideal choice for pre-theatre curated cocktails and light bites, whereas come sunset, the space transforms into a vibrant music venue with live performances and DJs showcasing sounds from albums and artists with Midtown roots.
