California’s second largest city is home to the country’s technology industry and many of its major players have their HQs here. But San Jose is more than just an exciting city for business, with its vibrant centre and plenty of things to do, San Jose is a great place for a holiday.
You might not think of San Jose when you hear music, art and culture, history and great food, but the city is teeming with things to do. The past decade has seen major changes to this city, and thanks to investment from Silicon Valley, San Jose’s centre is now buzzing. There are plenty of historical sights, such as St Joseph’s Cathedral Basilica and the Plaza de Cesar Chavez – dating back to the 1800s this is the oldest plaza in the city. Beautiful green spaces include Alum Rock Park and the Municipal Rose Garden, where you’ll no doubt witness a bride having her picture taken, or head to a theme park such as California’s Great America or Raging Water, or one of the many museums and art galleries.
Downtown is home to plenty of eateries offering delicious dishes – from the street food trucks dotted around the city and traditional brunch spots to award-winning fine dining and experimental menus.
San Jose has a rich seam of culture running through it and wherever your interests lie you’ll find something to please your eye: the explorative Children’s Discovery Museum, the modern art of the San Jose Museum of Art, and the artefacts on display at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum.
