A beautiful, pedestrianised village, Seefeld has been a popular destination for those seeking a relaxing winter holiday since the 1970s. More than a simple skiing resort, Seefeld offers the opportunity to unwind and relax, both on and off the slopes.
The four surrounding mountains comprise a stunning and imposing backdrop to the pretty Tirolean landscape. The good snow record, smaller slopes and excellent ski schools make Seefeld a great choice for beginners and those with little skiing experience. Children, in particular, will be well accommodated here, thanks to the excellent variety of childcare and ski tuition on offer. Although the alpine skiing is good, the big focus in Seefeld is on cross-country skiing. There are over 200 kilometres of trails to cover and plenty of stunning alpine scenery to take in as you do it.
Seefeld is 90 km (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes transfer) from Munich airport.
The Geigenbühel area near the centre of Seefeld village is an ideal area for beginners. Snowboarders will also love learning here. The slopes are gentle and forgiving, and the ski instructors are excellent and fluent in English. Progressing beginners can move on the easy blue descents of the Gschwandtkopf or the Rosshütte.
The Sportabfahrt, one of the most popular runs in Seefeld, features a winding red piste that is blessed with panoramic, beautiful views. The Kaltwasser draglift provides access to a steep red run, popular with local racing clubs. Snowboarders looking for jumps and half-pipes should make their way to the terrain park areas in Rosshütte.
A more demanding red piste on the Härmelekopf side of the Rosshütte ski area is one of Seefeld's harder runs. Advanced skiing in and around Seefeld is a little sparse but there are some challenges to be enjoyed. Skiing on the glacier atop Zugspitz, Germany's highest mountain, offers a few red pistes and one black run. Offering excellent challenges for skiers and snowboarders, the glacier is around an hour away from Seefeld.
Seefeld has around a dozen bars, in addition to the local hotels and restaurants. The village also boasts five nightclubs. Apres ski here is more sedate than some resorts, with the major focus being on originality and diversity. The Siglu bar is a glass igloo belonging to the Hotel Klosterbrau, there are also British, Western and Tirolean theme bars. Seefeld also has a casino, offering gaming late into the night.
