We officially opened our new £1.1 million lounge on 1 April at Cape Town International Airport, the first in South Africa to be modelled on the Galleries Lounges in Terminal 5 at Heathrow, London.
Taking the best of British design, style and art from the past and present, but integrating this with South African design; the new lounge is twice the size of the previous facility.
As well as creating elegant, peaceful spaces the designers have also taken into account the varying needs of our customers, whether these are to freshen up before the flight, sit quietly and read, catch up on some last-minute work, have a quick snack or enjoy a good glass of wine.
Food and beverage is central to the lounge experience and our chefs have worked with local suppliers to create a new lounge menu. The wine area is also a new feature; similar to an upmarket wine bar, it showcases the best of Cape wines, including those served onboard.
