Changes to the UK Avios Travel Rewards Programme

You may have heard the news that the UK Avios Travel Rewards Programme is closing. All Avios Travel Rewards Programme Members who don’t currently belong to another qualifying airline loyalty programme are being welcomed into the British Airways Executive Club.

What can you expect as an Avios Travel Rewards Programme Member who will now be joining the Executive Club?

We are absolutely delighted to welcome those joining us from the UK Avios Travel Rewards Programme. Let us assure you that whilst the programme is closing, Avios the currency, will remain. You’ll still be able to collect and spend your Avios in many of the same ways you are used to, whilst also accessing exciting new benefits.

Rest assured, your Avios balance is safe and we will shortly be moving this to your new Executive Club account as your current Avios Travel Rewards Programme account closes.

Many of you will have now had an Executive Club membership supplied to you, with details of how to activate it. If not we are in the process of doing so. In rare instances, Members may see a duplicate Executive Club account created. If this happens, please be reassured that we will be merging them for you and this could take up to three weeks.

How will this affect you as an Executive Club Member?

For current Executive Club Members who do not also have an Avios Travel Rewards Programme account, everything will remain the same.

You’ll still be able to:

  • Collect Avios on flights, hotels, car hire and shopping at the British Airways Avios eStore
  • Spend your Avios on flights, hotels, car hire and other travel rewards
  • Set up a Household Account to pool your Avios with up to six people in your household, including children.

Plus, you’ll also be able to:

  • Use Avios to make a part payment and save money on flights
  • Be part of the oneworld® alliance and access all its benefits
  • Collect Tier Points when you fly with British Airways and our partner airlines
  • Manage your account and future bookings at
