Istanbul enjoys a stunning location, straddling the continents of Europe and Asia. Surrounded by the waters of the Bosphorus strait and the Sea of Marmara, this unique Turkish city offers an exciting blend of cultures.
A vibrant modern metropolis merges with rich ancient history and an enthralling architectural legacy in Istanbul. Hop on a tram or ‘dolmus’ and explore this cosmopolitan city of contrasts. Admire superb 20th-century artworks or ancient archaeological treasures. Step back in time at atmospheric, labyrinthine bazaars and historic, spice-scented markets. Or browse the designer-label offerings in immaculate modern boutiques. Afterwards, unwind and release life’s stresses with the steam at a 16th-century Turkish hammam. As the sun sets, listen to the mesmerising call to prayer drifting through the skies from magnificent mosques. Feast on succulent meze washed down with fiery raki. Then enjoy a glass of fruity Turkish wine in the company of amiable locals at a lively traditional tavern.
