Overview

Tavistock is a no-frills hotel overlooking leafy Tavistock Square Gardens. While areas of the hotel would benefit from refurbishment, this hotel’s main draw is its location in London’s Bloomsbury district, close to plenty of bookshops, cafes and museums.

Opposite Tavistock Square Gardens, on the site of British writer Virginia Woolf's former home, this area is dotted with tree-filled squares and Georgian architecture. The British Museum is less than half a mile’s wander from here. Plus, the luxury shops and award-winning restaurants of Covent Garden, and the markets and street food of Camden are each a mile and a half away in opposite directions. For travels further afield, Euston, Kings Cross and St Pancras International stations are under a mile from here. Russell Square underground is also 500 metres away, which can connect you to Heathrow Airport.

Behind its 1930s exterior, modest rooms are traditionally styled, with dark patterned carpets and wood laminate furniture. They are a little dated in areas, with windows that can let street noise in – and it’s worth noting that they’re not fitted with air conditioning. Choose between Standard Twin and Standard Double rooms, each with free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities.
