Overview
Coyaba Beach Resort is a stylish, all-inclusive hotel offering all the facilities of a larger resort in a friendly, small hotel setting – with Grenada's most spectacular beach right alongside. Coyaba means 'heaven' in Arawak, and it’s easy to see how this family-run hotel got its name. The hotel was established in 1987 by the Cherman family, and many of the staff have worked here for decades. Wander through the gardens and you will come to Grand Anse Beach, a gorgeous 1.5-mile-long sweep of golden sand, where non-motorised water sports are complimentary.
It's hard to imagine a more perfect location, directly on Grand Anse Beach, widely renowned as Grenada’s finest. Umbrellas Beach Bar, the beach’s best watering hole, is right next door, while the Spiceland Mall lies just across the road with its fast-food outlets, well stocked supermarket and gift shops. The port city of St Georges is four miles away. Here you can visit three historic forts offering fine views of the harbour and sea, the fascinating National Museum and the delicious House of Chocolate.
Nearby visit the bustling fishing village of Carenage (four miles away), while just around the bay lies the quiet beach retreat of Morne Rouge Bay (one mile away) – enveloped by lush greenery. If you’re looking to sample some biodiversity, venture out to Grand Etang National Park (10 miles away) where the rainforest, crater lakes and waterfalls make it ideal for hiking. The fantastic Underwater Sculpture Park lies nearly seven miles away. Maurice Bishop International Airport lies 3.5 miles away.
Set in five acres of spacious gardens among palm trees, shrubs and hibiscus, the hotel has been stunningly designed with a contemporary look. Traditional, tribal touches such as Arawak patterned floors and urns complement the fresh, minimalist architecture. The 80 rooms are built in two storey blocks, and tastefully furnished with tiled floors, dark wood, colourful prints and Caribbean arts and crafts. Each has a patio or balcony and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower, some rooms have a bathtub too. Rooms are well equipped with a television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms overlook the picturesque gardens, some also offer views of the pool or the ocean. Rooms in the blocks nearest to the beach cost a little extra.

Other facilities
The hotel has a fair-sized swimming pool with a swim-up bar, which because of the resort’s close proximity to the beach is a little under used.
Enjoy snorkelling, canoeing, kayaking and Hobie Cat sailing, or book a scuba package with the PADI five-star dive operator based on site. Grenada offers some excellent diving locations, including an Underwater Sculpture Park, magnificent coral reefs teeming with marine life and many shipwrecks. Grenada is also home to the Caribbean’s largest wreck, the Bianca C, a 600-foot Italian liner which sank in the early 1970s.
Golfers will appreciate the complimentary round at the nearby Grenada Golf and Country Club.
Sports facilities on-site include a shuffleboard court, table tennis and tennis court. There’s a small but well-equipped Fitness Centre. A lively programme of weekly activities takes place here too, including yoga, tai chi (in the outdoor pavilion), a cocktail mixing masterclass and garden tours. The hotel also offers bird watching tours on request. There’s a modest spa with treatments which can be given in open-air cabanas by the beach.
Dining information
Coyaba offers a choice of two great restaurants. The open-sided Carbet a la carte restaurant overlooks the appealing free-form pool with its swim-up bar. This casual al fresco grill restaurant offers both lunch and dinner. Favourite dishes here include burgers, a fresh catch of the day, specialty salads and sandwiches.
Nearer the beach, the more formal Arawakabana restaurant serves buffet breakfast and lunch, plus gourmet evening meals, and has entrancing views through the illuminated gardens to the sea. The breakfast buffet is decent and includes a local juice of the day and hot dishes, with eggs cooked to order. The four-course dinner menu is largely international and Grenadian in flavour. It includes dishes such as pumpkin and ginger soup and sesame-crusted yellow fin tuna. (A supplement is charged for some food items).
The open-air bar lounge, furnished with comfy wicker chairs and sofas, is a sociable place to mingle with other guests before or after dinner. There’s live entertainment most nights.
Private dining is possible at the hotel’s cabanas in the gardens, while beach side dining is also available at an extra charge.
Additional information
The evening dress code for Arawakabana is elegantly casual. Men are asked to wear shirts with collars, trousers and closed toe shoes, and women are asked not to wear excessive mini dresses, flip flops or trainers, while Carbet is more relaxed.
We strongly recommend that transfers are booked in this destination. Transfers must be booked as additional items, for which separate vouchers will be required.
Superior Collection rooms may have either pool or garden views. Specific views may be requested, but cannot be guaranteed. For a confirmed ocean view, a Superior Ocean View room should be booked.
